American Idol Top 24 - Let's have fun and be OPINIONATED!

Can you believe that Season 6 of American Idol is starting already? I am looking forward to this week because I will actually be seeing these people and hearing them sing for the first time. Part of this was because I couldn't stand another season of painfully bad auditions and Simon making fun of the mentally handicapped, but the main reason is that I didn't want to be influenced by the blatant pimpage of certain contestants that happens every season.

So to prepare for this post, I went here http://www.americanidol.com/contestants/season6/ to check all the contestants out. I didn't read their bios yet (don't want to be unduly influenced by any sad stories yet), so my observations are pretty superficial.

First, the women. Right off the bat, there are four girls (Alaina, Amy, Haley, Nicole) who look so similar they could be sisters. I hope their singing style and vocals are distinctive from each other, otherwise it will be hard to tell them apart. I went crosseyed watching The Real Housewives of Orange County and trying to tell one blonde, botoxed, fake breasted female from another and would rather not have this happen again. Another thing I noticed is that none of the women are under the age of 18, which I appreciate. Don't get me wrong, I have also enjoyed the talented high-school aged teens who have been on the show in the past but I always feel bad for them when Simon rips them to shreds on National Television and then am relieved on their behalf when they are finally voted off. I have also agreed with the judges in the past that some of the younger performers lack depth when performing.

Now the guys. One of the reasons why I watch American Idol is for the eyecandy. I not only admit to this shallowness, I completely embrace it, but there seems to be a lack of eyecandy this year. I exclude Phil Stacey from that because he is Ace Part Deux and has a very nice smile. But don't despair ladies (or any gents that are reading), I have high hopes for sleeper eyecandy like Anthony Fedorov was. At first he was just a cutie but went to HOT DAMN! with the tight pants and tight black T-shirt that one night. *happy sigh* However, we can be spared from the eyemolesting Constantine's this year though, kthanks. The other two guys I noticed right away were Chris Sligh and particularly Sundance Head. Those two intrigue me because they look like the two guys who sat zoned out in their classes during college and it was ALWAYS 4:20 in their world. You can't judge a book by its college days cover though, so yeah looking forward to seeing what these two are all about.

So, I can't wait to discuss American Idol with all of you. Tune in on Tuesday for the guys and Wednesday is Ladies Night!

Yay! Idol is starting! Spork, I am only one small step ahead of you on your top 24 knowledge. I actually watched them them for from 40 to 24 so I got to get a small impression of all of them. I'll assure you of one thing Spork, the pictures on that Idol site don't do anyone justice, especially the guys. There is a bit of eye candy. Brandon Rogers for one. Blake Lewis is also a cutie. On the girls side, I totally agree with you on the quadruplets. One of them needs to dye their hair or something. Otherwise they're going to cancel each other out. One of them did impress me vocally more than the others. I think it was Nicole...but don't hold me to that. I also like Gina mostly for personality and for the fact that she's from Naperville, IL. I have family from there:-). I think my favorite overall from the little I have seen is Lakisha. Vocally she's like Mandisa 2.0 and she just seems like a grounded and sweet girl.

So is it Tuesday yet?

Ok, now that there is even more hope for eyecandy I definitely can't wait for Tuesday to get here. Thanks Rulz, you brightened by day as usual. *hugs*

Here's hoping that the AI stylist gets the quadruplets (hee!) together and gives them all a new look before Wednesday.

So far, nobody excites me yet, and there's no one I don't like very much. But maybe it's because I didn't watch the stupid auditions, so I think it's good. No back stories to influence me or something. No clear frontrunner, eh? That'll make for a good contest this year. Although I hear really good things about the two back-up singers. Hey, what do you know, maybe they'll fall in love during the competition and we'll have Canthony Part Deux!

Maybe the quadruplets are just cannon fodder. It happens every year. So who do you guys think would win though - boy or a girl?

Oh and Spork, I really love that cute little thing you sent me.

American Idol, Season 6!! How can it be? SIX! I feel so old.

Nobody has stuck out for me as yet, I haven't really done a "wow" and I'm quite disappointed but I'm sure someone will grow on me.

I love idol but no season will ever top season 4 in terms of obsessiveness and addiction levels but that's probably a good thing as I do like to have a life.

For fun factor and he has a great voice, Chris Sligh is good but I don't see much eye candy! Blake and Chris are ok but I need to see them perform, get to know them.

The girls are so meh, and the only girl I remember is Antonella.

I do hope the competition is close at the end and I also hope the winner is actually good. I wasn't a massive fan of Taylor in the end...

Bring on the early bad performances, the insulting comments and with that, the tears. Once they've eliminated out the fillers, the competition should hot up!

I think a boy will win againthis year! :D

I hope its another close one as well. During AI4, I liked both Bo and Carrie pretty much equally and was happy with Carrie winning.

Last year was meh to me. Taylor is definitely talented, but I didn't care all too much for his style. Kat was hit and miss for me, so during AI5 final two I really didn't care who won. If it had been Chris/Elliot, that would have been a whole different story.

Bucky did kind of grow on me though before he was voted off and I am glad to see he is doing so well. Kellie Pickler? That was the opposite, I liked her at first and that lessened with every show.

It will be interesting to see what personalities emerge from this competition.

Unless one of the girls manages to really set herself apart (or at least not look exactly alike so I can visually tell them apart), I think you might be right. Of course last year I was pretty sure a girl would win so what do I know. LOL.

I kind of like that no one is really sticking out as a frontrunner right off the bat. Makes things more interesting. It's a more even playing field.

Oh good lord, check this out.

Now no matter if she sings and looks like an angel, she will probably always be "Toilet Girl" in my mind.

LOL! Ewwww! So I think her chances of being American Idol just got flushed down the toilet (he he;-p).

On the plus side...at least she wipes.

Ya know, I just assume that people wipe and IDONTNEEDPROOFOFIT!!!! Ew!

Yeah considering this pic is out there, she had better bring it on Wednesday.
