American Idol Top 12 Women - They just rule!

The title says it all! Unless the boys really step it up over the next couple months, a woman is going to be the next American Idol. They really put those boys to shame. Unlike last year's Top 12 women, they all deserved to be there. There wasn't a Brenna Gethers and a few others that seemed to be obvious cannon fodder.

Stephanie Edwards: What a performer! She sang You Don't Call Me Anymore and reminded me so much of Fantasia in the way she would get down into the song. Loved her!

Amy Krebs: So she is the Tall Quad who sang I Can't Make You Love Me. She had no stage presence; had a pleasant voice, but at times sounded babyish and a little nasally. Agreed with the judges....pretty boring.

Leslie Hunt: Sang Natural Woman. I am a fan of the smoky voice and I liked hers, but the awkward stage movements were a little distracting. If she makes it back next week, I hope she drops the librarian dress and does something with a hard rock edge.

Sabrina Sloan: Sang an Aretha song I didn't catch the title of and knocked it out! Everything was flawless - the facial expressions, the vocals, the movements, very controlled. Still wow'd about this one as I write this.

Antonella Barba: Ok, first off she started off by sitting on a stool which sent me into giggles because of the whole potty thing. Sang Don't Wanna Miss A Thing and it was pretty bad. It was the very definition of pitchy, at time she seemed out of control and out of sync with the arrangement. She is gorgeous though and that might buy her another week.

Jordin Sparks: Beautiful smile and very poised for a 17 year old. Sang Turn Back Around and at first was too sweet and bland with it considering the subject of the song, but then she hit her stride and sang like the pissed off woman she needed to be. Very powerful vocals.

Nicole Tranquillo: The Nondescript Quad, but straightening her hair did help set her apart. Didn't like the song or performance. It was too Las Vegas hotel to me and at times she even looked insane. She can sing though and she can stay as long as she never does anything like that again.

Haley Scarnato: The Pretty Quad. Sang "Its All Coming Back To Me Now". Nice sounding voice, but the performance was very beauty pageant. I was bored, but couldn't pin exactly why until Simon stated it well. The whole thing was too old for her.

Melinda Doolittle: Sang another Aretha song and sang the HELL out of it. Awesome performance and she obviously has a gift, but I wonder how she would do on Country night or something else in a genre that would take her out of her element.

Alaina Alexander: The Dramatic Quad. Sang Brass in Pocket and really REALLY tried but it was meh and left me very cold. She also had a bit of an attitude and that didn't help.

Gina Glocksen: Now THIS is the smoky voice that I love. Sang All By Myself which has the potential for being boring, which it certainly wasn't. She sounded a little off a few times, but overall a good performance, great voice.

LaKisha Jones: Sang You're Gonna Love Me and did a great job. She did have the JHud crazy eyes thing going for her, but didn't move me like Jennifer Hudson did in Dreamgirls. Great job overall, but thought the judge's praise was a bit over the top this time.

Top Two: Sabrina Sloan and Stephanie Jones
Bottom Two: Antonella Barba and Alaina Alexander

Alright Spork, quit with the mind reading. I agree with almost everything in your review.

I seriously cannot pick a top two because there were too many that I liked THAT much. So I'll give you my top 6 (in order of performance not preference) Stephanie, Sabrina, Jordin, Melinda, Gina, Lakisha. Them girls can SING!

Leslie is sitting on the bubble for me. I really like the tone of her voice but she needs to just...I don't know...stand still or something. Simon hit the nail on the head when he said she looked like she was out of her comfort zone on stage.

Any of the quads could end up in the bottom 2 tonight and I honestly wouldn't bat an eye. Not one of them impressed me although I still think Nicole has a great voice and potential. She just picked the most sucktastic song EVER to showcase it last night.

Tonight will be interesting.

Man, the ladies really BROUGHT it last night! They're back in vengeance (from the not really great Season 5 girls group) and totally put the guys to shame. And is it crazy that for like, the 5th time only, I agree with Randy when he said he could send 8 girls through and only four guys? A girl will win it this year, which is good for the AI top brass. It's the girls who sell well anyway. I'm really glad I didn't watch the earlier auditions because when I saw them last night for the first time I had equal expectations for all of them and some of them really wowed me!

My top four are Melinda, Stephanie, Sabrina and Lakisha. I'm not too sold on Lakisha like the judges were because it seemed at this stage of the game, she's shown she's a belter only, and we have had a lot of those in the past. I would like to see her tackle a song with subtlety instead of always belting.

Props to Melinda for choosing an Aretha song that hasn't been sung to death! She's also channeling the Carrie humility so I like that too.

But of course, in true AI fashion, someone who probably doesn't deserve to move on will move on, in place of the more talented one. That person will probably be Toilet Girl.

I LOVE Melinda. I think she's my favorite of the girls right now. She is SO good and yet seems to have no inkling of how good she is. She's such a pro and she seems like the sweetest most down to earth person. Love it. Love it. Love it.

Actually what I liked about most of my top girls is that they all seemed very professional and quite humble.

Oh, I love Melinda too. My only problem is that her humility sometimes seems like lack of confidence. That makes me wonder if she would be as good if she was pushed out of her comfort zone.

I have high hopes that she will though.

And yeah, Toilet girl will stay. At least one of the Quads, if not two of them will leave tonight. That would be nice because then we would just be dealing with twins.

The girls were good!!

My favourites are:
Melinda, she SANG it and I can't help but smile with her, she's so cute.
Sabrina, what a voice!!!
Stephanie, wow wow! I think she has something and really tells the song.

Alaina wasn't very good IMO and I wasn't that impressed with Antonella, it was all over the place and so out of tune.

Overall the girls are good!!

I think this season will be very interesting.

My only problem is that her humility sometimes seems like lack of confidence.

It seems that way too, and good thing for her is that the judges seem to oblige her in giving her praises to build her confidence.

She's like these two different persons. When she's performing, she's totally out there, puts on a really great show, and then after the music stops, she goes back to her little shell.

And yeah, Toilet girl will stay.

I read on our favorite snarky board that she is Vote For The Worst's choice, so she'll stay. Sad.
