Top 10 Results - Give Sanjaya's hair its own show already.

So, the show starts and Cheeseball Ryan comes out wearing a wig that looks like Sanjaya's hair from last night. Its funny how American Idol seemed to want Sanjaya gone as much as we all did, but have resigned themselves to him staying and are now embracing the idea. Interesting.

Cowboy commercial. Chris R proves again that he is a sexy beast, but I liked CAKE in bubbles so much more.

Cue ominous music....Blake is safe! LaKisha is safe! Phil is *fingers crossed* in the bottom 3, grrrr. Melinda is safe! Chris R is safe! Sanjaya....yeah is safe. Haley joins Phil on the Seal. Jordin is safe!

Chris S and Gina now have to be toyed with for a little while longer. Isn't this the second time its happened to both of them?

Gwen with Akon sing "The Sweet Escape" YAY I love this song and I think this was the best and most enjoyable performance by a guest ever.

Back to Chris S and Gina; Chris S joins Phil and Haley on the Seal. Phil once again is sent back right away (again, didn't this happen before?) and its just Haley with her vulnerability and shiny, magical hair and Chris S looking like he already knows. And he is right, he will be leaving us.

I am so glad they aired his singout because I do love his voice, but something happened the last couple weeks - he imploded somehow. Awww his hot wife is sad for him, and he hugs all his fellow contestants. All their eyes looked dry though, wonder why? Its going to be heartwrenching when CAKE are separated at some point.

Chris Richardson is a sexy beast!

So, we already have CAKE....now is there a Chraina?

http://www.tmz.com/2007/03/28/alainas-a-i-showmance/

I do remember her sitting with Chris' family a last week sometime, but I didn't think anything of it. Should I have? Is this the new Canthony? Could be....both good looking, early 20's, Alaina is a few years older. Supposedly they both have relationships back home, but whatever - we have seen how American Idol has cruelly separated young lovers before!

American Idol hookups (pretend or otherwise) are so much fun. Too bad none of them ever seemed to actually happen, other than Corey Clark and Trenyce and that one was just ewwwww.

American Idol Top 10 - I heart Gwen

Watching the montage of Gwen Stefani from over 10 years ago brought back a lot of memories. I loved No Doubt way back then and I have always liked Gwen as a person. The Man put it better; "They finally got someone modern on this show." I also like how she was honest about every contestant and tried to be constructive.

LaKisha Jones: Sang Donna Summer's "Last Dance". YIKES! That dress hurt my eyes and was not flattering in the least, but the boots were - those were hot! The vocals were great and she even did some dancing but meh. It felt like good karaoke to me, but the judges loved it.

Chris Sligh: First off, he gives me a visual of him that I DID NOT WANT and then proceeds to sing "Every Little Thing She Does" and it was a hot mess. Boring, out of sync with the music and backup singers...ugh. It was written all over his face before the judges even spoke. What happened to this guy?

Gina Glocksen: Sang "I'll Stand By You" and I really loved this! For one thing, it was so nice to hear her actually sing and show off that beautiful voice. This really was the perfect song for her and she absolutely deserved the tongue bath from the judges. YAY!

Sanjaya Malakar: Sang "Bathwater" and is this a joke? The hair is indescribable and then hearing him sing some of those lyrics....there was just so much WTF going on. Simon said it best; it doesn't matter what they say, Sanjaya is in his own universe. Honestly, I don't even want the kid gone now - just fascinated by his continuing presence.

Haley Scarnato: Sang "True Colors" and the vocals were nice, but she is back to the whole boring beauty pageant thing. Not much else to say.

Phil Stacey: Sang "Every Breath You Take" and I really enjoyed this one. I am rooting for Phil because I kind of see him as an underdog of the guys, so fingers crossed that he lasts a couple more weeks.

Melinda Doolittle: Sang "Heaven Knows" and once again made a song that I don't really care for an enjoyable one. It was nearly perfect, but I agree with Simon regarding the outfit. It wasn't as bad as LaKisha's though.

Blake Lewis: Sang "Love Song" and I thought the whole thing was perfect - from the clothes, the whole vibe, everything. Simon and Randy thought he was a little boring and didn't really get it, but Paula does....and so do I. IMO, he is as much of a pro as Melinda is even with their vastly different styles.

Jordin Sparks: Sang "Hey Baby" and while she is naturally good, this was my least favorite performance of hers. She even sounded a little bit off to me at times. Once again, the judges liked it better than I did.

Chris Richardson: Sang "Don't Speak" and I really liked the new arrangement. During the first verse, he wasn't very nasal and I had high hopes. Then he hit the chorus and it was all through his nose for the rest of the song. He really is talented and I like him, but I can't get over the nasal - it gets more noticable as the group of performers gets smaller and smaller.

Top 3 (In Order): Blake, Gina, Melinda
Bottom 3 (No Order): Chris S, Sanjaya, Haley

Is there any SOAP that can make him look clean?

According to TV Guide, Constantine Maroulis (Sixth Place, American Idol 4) has accepted a role on the Soap Opera "The Bold and the Beautiful"

"The American Idol Season 4 star will appear on The Bold and the Beautiful in a summer music plot--but this is no mere cameo. 'We're going to blur reality a la Entourage and have Constantine play a fictional version of himself,' says B & B executive producer Brad Bell. 'He will become fascinated with online gossip about Phoebe Forrester and want to be her music producer. He loves her face, her voice, the whole package and sees her as a way to make money.' Expect a romantic triangle with the duo and Phoebe's lover, Rick. And, teases Bell, 'Constantine isn't the only Idol we'll bring to the show this summer.' "

I have nothing to add, the snark writes itself.

Live! From New York! It's Carrie Underwood!!!

Carrie performed on Saturday Night Live last night, which was quite an honor. Only six other Country artists have been invited to perform on SNL, including Faith Hill, Dixie Chicks, and Keith Urban.

In my opinion, her performances of Before He Cheats and Wasted were the best ones she has ever done LIVE. I do wish she had taken part in a skit though because I think she would have been good. Could you imagine if they had spoofed the whole Faith Hill WHAT?! drama? Or the whole Tony Romo "I fumbled a major play because I am so in looooooooove with Carrie" drama? Either of those would have been awesome and very funny, but alas nobody asked me. (Sidenote for the Romowoods: Its been reported that Carrie was spotted around the SNL studios wearing a Dallas Cowboys sweatshirt. Must be a sign!)

In addition to watching Carrie, her band is always entertaining. Its full of talent and eyecandy of the male variety - Fiddler Boy, the two guitarists MMMMMMM. Carrie's first guitarist Mark O was the best eyecandy, but he sadly isn't there any longer. That might be a good thing because otherwise it would have been alltogether too much sexy on the stage last night. Then there is Carrie's backup singer. The girl is talented, no doubt, but hasn't learned the fine backup singer art of staying in THE BACKGROUND. This girl wants attention and the spotlight, it oozes from her. She should've tried out for AI this year, since they love the backup singers; next year, it will be old news.

So, in case you missed it....here is Before He Cheats! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQGw0wrqrHk

Have I ever said before that I love Sassy Carrie, that look she gives when she sings "and he don't knooooooowwww" just kills me! And the outfit! Yeah, I am sure Mrs Underwood will get more letters telling her that Carrie needs to cover up more, but whatever I LOVE IT! For such a little person, she has legs that go on for miles and for that I have to hate her a little bit. And that "too skinny" talk? Pshhhh, she looks great - very toned.

And finally, she performed Wasted.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3bjH7ahjmg

I like this song as well and Carrie did such a great job. I think being in NYC really agrees with her. Also, I loved how Fiddler Boy GOT DOWN on this song. To be honest, I didn't care for this dress so much but it still showed off those legs and that makes up for everything!

EDIT: This isn't Carrie related, but its very funny. SNL did a spoof on Sanjaya and crying Pigtails girl. http://mjsbigblog.com/snl-does-sanjaya-and-oh-yeah-carrie-underwood-performed-too.htm

Its hilarious, I haven't laughed this hard since Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg's "Dick in a Box".

Fantastick Anthony

Another good thing for my fangirly and Anthony Fedorov loving and heart! Anthony was on GDNY this morning to talk about his upcoming appearance as "Matt" in The Fantasticks, starting May 1, 2007. He says he is playing his own romantic and goofy self, which is exactly why we love him, so I hope that never changes. And the throwing up of the hand signals/devil horns or whatever at the beginning? Yep, he's still adorkable. It was also a real treat to hear him sing a medley of songs he will be perfoming in The Fantasticks.

I can see why he is nervous and excited, I think we fans might be feeling the same way. I had no idea he could act or was even interested in acting until I heard about him getting this role, but I have high hopes for him. When the reviews come in, I plan on obsessively hunting them down and reading them all - good, bad or indifferent. I will go out on a limb though and predict that most of the reviews will be good, non-fans will be pleasantly surprised and Anthony will win many more new fans during his run.

Now the usual hair and wardrobe report. Hair was awesome, very very nice and the perfect amount of spikiness. Wardrobe? Didn't he wear that same outfit the last time he was on GDNY? *exasperated sigh* Not that I am one to talk, being quite a fashion and hair disaster myself, but he needs either a girlfriend to dress him or a stylist. A girlfriend would be my preference because I am a sucker for loooooooove and the shopping time and fashion advice usually comes free with the girl. ;)

Edit 3-25-07: Downloads of Anthony's appearance on WWOR, where he discusses his work with the Sarcoma Foundation - among other topics, is now available on his fansite and on youtube.

Part 1 of Interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ly3jdjelN28
Part 2 of Interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIO2MB6Ede8

Downloads: http://anthonyfanclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4915&start=0

In addition to one of the best Anthony interviews ever, he sings an acoustic version of "Never Over", which is very powerful and moving. Once again, his maturity and eloquence at the age of 21 amazes me.

Romowood v. Oliwood

It has recently come to our attention that Carrie Underwood and Tony Romo might indeed be hiding a secret relationship that can be proven by pictures! All very interesting, but you can make up your own mind about that by reading here and scrolling down to the March 20th comments. WARNING - you may lose some braincells in the process.

http://delusionfree.blogspot.com/2007/03/no-more-oliwood-say-it-isnt-so.html

Who should Carrie date? Who is she really dating, secretly or otherwise? Why do we talk about this? Because its fun and because we are big Carrie fans and unabashed gossips. Also, Carrie herself said she likes to read about who she is supposedly dating; we are no different and certainly don't take any of this too seriously.

So, why not compare the two gentleman in question?

Tony Romo - Dallas Cowboys Quarterback

Connection to Carrie: She says they first met on Christmas Day, he says they were talking before them. Hmmm, who to believe, who to believe....

Personality: From the few interviews I have seen, he seems like a sweet and humble guy. On the bad side, his big-mouthed name-dropping made him look like a real chump and famewhore; particularly after Carrie later told the press that they are NOT! DATING!

Sex Appeal: He has a lot of it. Nice butt, very nice smile, lots of hair that you want to run your fingers through.....what? Being an NFL Quarterback, he is likely in good physical shape. Hmmm

Skeletons: None that I have heard. During the whole Romowood frenzy after the Holidays, someone sent me a video of Romo at a club in Dallas. There was a lot of cheesy "Girls Gone Wild" stuff going on, but he wasn't participating in it - just there in the club. Meh, it takes more than that to make me pearlclutch and say OMGHEISNOTGOODENOUGHFOROURCARRIE!!!!!!

Is it real? According to both Carrie and Tony, there is no Romowood. There hasn't been anymore recent sightings of them together, no pictures by paparazzi, nothing.

Potential for CRAZY: Between rabid football fans, Carrie's overprotective fans, and inevitable 'shipping madness, the crazy potential is very high. Plus, they are both goodlooking, high profile and when celebs date each other, its a perfect recipe for CRAZY in general.

Oliver Trevena - Aspiring popstar, model

Connection to Carrie: He was her date at the pre-grammy and post-grammy parties. See the picture to the left. Before the Grammy's, they were spotted twice leaving Hyde together.

Personality: I don't know enough about him to really say. He did seem gentlemanly when escorting Carrie from Hyde the second time. However, he is 26 years old and calls himself Oli-T. Enough said.

Sex Appeal: He's goodlooking, nice facial structure, well built and also has the accent, which is usually a turn-on. He does need to grow his hair back, I cannot stress that enough.

Skeletons: Here are the things that some had against him during the short time he was linked to Carrie. He was once engaged to a Soap Opera actress (*gasp* what?!), and has been linked with different women over the past few years (shocking!), and recently went out to lunch with his exgirlfriend (that bastard!). Once again, nothing to get worked up about.

Is it real? Not anymore apparently, since Carrie has recently said she is "sadly single". Oliwood was likely nothing more than some fun dates while in Los Angeles.

Potential for CRAZY: Pretty low. Oliver who? Oli what? Other than some disappointed shippers and some of Carrie's fans, most of the general public doesn't know about Oliver or really care about him dating Carrie.

After comparing these two guys that Carrie has never admitted to dating, they seem like harmless fun and I would enjoy her dating either of them. However, Romo does have a slight edge because he has a "real" job. It doesn't matter what I think, so lets see what happens. Carrie is mysterious and seems to surprise us every time. Who will her next date/love interest be?

Top 11 Results - Hushhhhhhh

After the usual preamble, Peter Noone performs "Hush...All Over the World" along with some really hokey dance moves. During his entire performance, most of the Idols are cracking up. Sanjaya in particular had his hand over his mouth trying not to laugh. A tad disrespectful, yes, but an honest reaction and I laughed right along with them.

Laundromat commercial - cute frollicking in bubbles. Naughty Cake thoughts.

Dim the lights.....Phil, Melinda, and Blake ALL SAFE! Phil is a very happy man and I am happy for him. Chris S, LaKisha (who looks INCREDIBLE), and Jordin ALL SAFE! Sanjaya, Haley and Gina....is this our Bottom 3? Nope, all are SAFE. That means that Stephanie and Chris R?! are both in the Bottom 2. This one could be a shocker.

Lulu comes out and sings "To Sir With Love". DAYUM! She looks so sexy for her age and what a performer! No laughter from the Idols this time; in fact, Jordin looks a little bit starstruck.

So, back to Stephanie and Chris R on the Seal. Both are very calm, but after a while Chris R looked like he was about to crack but then Ryan says he's SAFE. He had better start working on that whole nasal thing. Awwww Stephanie is such a class act smiling through her tears. I wish they had aired her singout.

American Idol Top 11 - The British Are Coming!

Don't be afraid, the only British that invaded this time were harmless old Peter Noone and spunky Lulu. I like 60's music, so I am looking forward to this!

Haley Scarnato: Sang "Tell Him". YES! I loved her performance and for the first time, felt she deserved her spot in the Top 11. She was so much fun, seems to have lost her nerves and shook what the good lord gave her. Very cute outfit and I am sure her bare back got her some votes. "Naughty little thing!" Of course, Simon knows her name now and I am glad. This one has grown on me.

Chris Richardson: Sang "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying". Peter Noone told him to watch the vibrato. Is that British for nasal? First off, Chris is damn sexy and sometimes that distracts me. Anyway, this was a great performance, but nasally at times, particularly during the "birds siiiiiinnnnggg" part. The falsetto at the end was very VERY nice. He will be awesome on the tour.

Stephanie Edwards: Sang "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me". I love this song and she sounded great singing it for Lulu, so what happened? It started really rough and she looked pained, like she lost her nerve. There were some rough notes scattered throughout and it was just boring. Ahhh, so disappointing. The judges agreed that something was missing here and I think she is in danger of being voted off tomorrow. I hope that doesn't happen.

Blake Lewis: Sang "Time and the Season". WOW the beginning was HOT and then the whole hip rocking when he sang the "Who's your daddy" line....*fans self* What can I say? And then the whole eyef*cking thing that Constantine made famous, but used to skeeve me? Blake did it so much better and I felt anything but skeeved. I am now officially in love with Blake Lewis, where before it was just a simple crush. The whole performance, clothes, vocals were sexy and smooth. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Then Ryan had to ruin the whole mood by dancing with Blake and singing "who's your daddy". Dude, do not try and have a piece of CAKE. Their love is pure and rare, there is no place in it for you.

LaKisha Jones: Sang "Diamonds Are Forever" while rocking the Sanjaya poodle hair. I don't really care for the song or even her performance of it. While this pains me to type this, it was really REALLY boring to me. She should have gone with the other song, whatever that was.

Phil Stacey: Sang "Tobacco Road". Overall, I did enjoy his performances but some of the vocals were pretty off. He is like the Stephanie of the guys and is really overshadowed by the CAKE. I wish him luck, he'll need it.

Jordin Sparks: Sang "I Who Have Nothing". I wasn't familiar with the song, but I loved this performance. She sang it like a grown up, a mature woman who knew what this song was all about. That is talent right there for a young girl. She is my favorite of the night so far.

Sanjaya Malakar: Sang "You Really Got Me" and I have to say, it really was the best thing he has ever done! The entire performance for me was a memorable combination of laughter, cringing, and then cringing some more during the primal screaming part. However, his vocals sounded strong to me for the first time. And was the girl in pigtails for real? He is really a nice boy and it was very sweet when he gave Pigtails a hug. I still can't believe he made it this far, but I don't mind it so much now that he finally entertained me, but probably not in the way he thinks.

Sanjaya is going to be on the tour, y'all. Say goodbye to either Stephanie or Phil.

Gina Glocksen: Sang "Paint It Black", which is one of my all time favorite songs. The verses were really rough and then the choruses were too shouty. Simon was right, it was torture at times. You are so much better than this, Gina!

Chris Sligh: Sang "She's Not There" while coming through the crowd. Why? He just ignored most of them anyway. Good vocals, meh performing. And he was defensive again and a little overbearing with the judges. I really liked him a month ago, now not so much.

Melinda Doolittle: Sang "As Long As He Needs Me". Love the new hair! To be honest, she didn't WOW me with this song like she has with others, but it was still very very good. And yes Simon, she really is that nice!

All in all, it was a really great night. I no longer fear for an all female Top 6.

Top three (in order): Blake, Jordin and Melinda
Bottom three (no order): Sanjaya, Stephanie and Phil.

Jordaya LIVES!

What with Romowood and Oliwood turning out to be a complete bust and listening to Canthony's death rattle grow ever louder, here is some hope for the romantic types who love American Idol, courtesy of the National Enquirer!

I'm sorry, but I can't see it between Jordin and Sanjaya. There are sooooooo many reasons why, but since these two are minors I will just leave it alone. Nicely played, ever powerful American Idol TPTB! Nothing like young fake loooooovvveeee to deflect attention off a gay bathroom scandal.

American Idol Top 12 Results - Not shocked, but more Anthony please!

Who is it going to be tonight? The suckage was pretty pervasive last night, but supposedly who is going home tonight is a shocker. Yep, yep I have heard that before and usually its not shocking at all. Ok, Daughtry's vote out last year was, but I don't think he is complaining now. And is anyone really still shocked that Sanjaya is still there? Not really I, and the judges for that matter, am resigned to it. He does seem like a sweet kid though, so I can deal. For now.

So as I watched tonight, I scanned the crowd for Anthony Fedorov. He said he would be there and would it kill them to actually show him on camera, but not by accident? Apparently so, because I missed him completely, although some eagle-eyed Feds did spot him. Why don't they ever show him on purpose? I don't want to get all conspiratorial and say its that TPTB must hide him because he was in the audience to see his TRUE LOVE Diana Ross perform or anything, but when they don't they show that hunk of Blonde Gorgeous when he is right there what else am I left with?

The judges are introduced and Simon is looking yummy and uncharacteristically angelic in white. Then in to the group song, which is a medley of our favorite "Baby Love" and then "Stop In The Name of Love". We have all made our feelings clear on "Baby Love" but I do love "Stop". Why? Because it brings back childhood memories of singing this song with my little neighbor friends. I can't even begin to explain why we knew all the words to this song since NONE of us were even born in the 60's and we were about 6 years old, but the song never fails to make me smile.

Ohhh Elimination time! LaKisha and Gina are SAFE! Brandon is the first to hit the seal - not surprised, but still sad to see it. Jordin, Chris R, Melinda (crowd LOVES her!) are all SAFE! Now Phil joins Brandon on the seal and this really sucks. Chris S is SAFE and one lucky bastard after the travesty of last night. Stephanie and Blake (another crowd favorite) are SAFE! Sanjaya and Haley are tortured through the commercial break and Diana Ross. I might as well keep with the conspiracy theme and speculate that TPTB are making those two PAY for lasting this long.

Diana Ross made a very divalicious entrance and sang "I Love You More Today Than Yesterday". I might not be a fan, but I have a lot of respect for her and can see why she has endured to this day.

Now back to business....Sanjaya and Haley stand up and Haley is SAFE. Meh. Sanjaya joins the rest at the seal and Phil is sent back. YAY. Now Ryan breaks the news that Brandon will be leaving us. Awww, this is really sad and I will miss that smile. And TPTB didn't even air his singout!

EDIT: New Anthony Interview!

Anthony was briefly interviewed by Fox News after the results last night. You can find it to download here: http://anthonyfanclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4778&start=0

This was a cute interview! Anthony didn't say anything new regarding his career, but seems very VERY pleased right now with how things are going. Seeing him so happy makes me a happy fan. Maybe its also that Spring has sprung? Birds, bees, flowers and trees and all that good, happy and looooove stuff. ;)

They asked him about Sanjaya and I was dying to see how he answered this one. Loved the little smirk there LOL! He was very sweet and diplomatic though, as usual. Good boy.

Now, the usual hair report. Anthony looked handsome as always, but does he have a fauxhawk this time? Hee! He kind of does, but its cute!

Back to American Idol for a minute, Blake was really broken up over Brandon leaving tonight as you could see in the video. Awww, come here sweetie for your hug and let it all out. Those of you who don't like American Idol crying (you know who you are) ZIP IT! when it comes to MY BLAKE LEWIS. I kid, I kid.....

American Idol Top 12 - What? No Baby Love?

The Top 12 run across the stage so fast that I just barely catch a glimpse of them - Where are Chris Sligh's glasses? Gina looks great! Sanjaya's hair WTF?! That is child abuse right there....

Brandon Rogers: Had his little meeting with Diana Ross and she told him to do something from his heart, take something from heart? Sang "Can't Hurry Love" and it was tad cheesy and a whole lot of boring. I guess he also forgot some words, but I didn't notice it until Simon mentioned it. Simon also was a bit much in his criticism; it wasn't THAT bad, but I would say this was almost as bad as "Time After Time".

Melinda Doolittle: Wearing a grey dress....has she ever worn colors since the Top 24? Hates high heels and dresses, I so want to be her best friend! Sang "Home" from The Wiz and made a boring song bearable. She sounded great and even become overwhelmed a bit herself, awwww but wish she chose something different. She's teary, Paula is crying it was great!

Chris Sligh: He says he doesn't have a nervous bone, but Diana says that he does. Hmmmm. He sang "Endless" love but did tell us that he changed the arrangement. He did more than changed it, he brutalized it. This was SO! BAD! I was cringing for him as he sang this sped up boring mess, although I did like the chorus a little bit. Paula told him he is trying too hard. Preach it Paula! After that mess, he is in real danger of leaving tomorrow and that is too bad.

Gina Glocksen: She was told by Diana that she needed to be sure to enunciate. Sang "Love Child" and proceeded to mush mouth through a good deal of it. Also, it was really REALLY boring. Why are two of my faves disappointing me tonight?

Sanjaya Malakar: Performed "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" I can't even say he sang it because OMG he sucked the passion and everything that was good about that song. Dropped notes, at times it sounded more like talking than whispering. The last note....just killed me and not in a good way. America, its cruel to let him go any further, please make it stop! Randy was openly laughing, Paula talked about his sweet spirit again because what else can you say? Simon talked about whales.....and the bangin' hair.....

Haley Scarnato: Once again, chose a boring song "Missing You". Rough beginning, she was almost whispering. The middle where she stood up was a real mess and I guess that is where she forgot the words. Somewhere, Melissa McGhee might be feeling a little vindicated for her "recognition wishes" or whatever went wrong with her lyrics last year. Anyway, poor Haley was really struggling with nerves, you could tell. I feel so bad for her, damn....Randy and Paula told her the truth. SIMON! He must have been feeling guilty for last week and rightly so, but he was really too nice. Putting on my conspiracy hat, I would have to say Simon isn't stupid and wants her gone - he isn't going to risk another "Screw You Simon" vote at the expense of someone else again.

Phil Stacey: Sang "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me". It was a big improvement over last week and really just good over all. Nice vocals, just enough energy to make it interesting without looking spastic. Good job.

LaKisha Jones: Sang "God Bless The Child". First off, I love this song and was a little worried that LaKisha would go for some cheap glory notes just because she can. She didn't though and I thought the whole thing was flawless. For the first time, I favored her over Melinda.

Blake Lewis: Sang/Performed "Keep Me Hanging On", rearranged to his style of course. Hmmmm, not as bad as Chris S rearrangement by any stretch, but still not great. The vocals weren't his best, but the performance part of it was good. I guess he did the best he could with what he had, not much else to say.

Stephanie Edwards: Sang "Love Hangover" and while her vocals are really sweet to hear, the whole thing was kind of boring. I also agreed wholeheartedly with the judges, she was outsung by Melinda and LaKisha and really should have done the fun Disco version that I thought she was going to do.

Chris Richardson: Performed "The Boss". WOW, he is really entertaining to watch but the vocals were so much more nasally this time. Not DREADFUL like Simon had said it was, but Chris really needs work when it comes to toning down the nasal.

Jordin Sparks: Sang "Hold On Together"? Not sure on the title....she was looking gorgeous and the whole thing was really REALLY good. I keep waiting for her to seem young and inexperienced at times, but she gets better from week to week. I almost love her as much as Melinda. Almost.

After tonight, I fear it will be all women in the Top 6. That could be kind of boring, I hope the guys improve.

Top 3 (In Order): LaKisha, Melinda and Jordin
Bottom 3 (No Order): Sanjaya and Haley (as usual); Brandon (for disappointing me 2 weeks in row)

Advice for the American Idol Top 12

Sure, we have very little musical experience and might be tonedeaf, but we have been watching this show for a while and are familiar with all the pimpage, voting irregularities and have heard every AI conspiracy theory imaginable. We also are opinionated and we vote! Give some advice to the Top 12 on what YOU think will set them apart and maybe even give them the edge to crowned the next American Idol.

Blake: Its pure genius to pick songs that are familiar to most people your age and either 10 years older or younger than you, but haven't been done to death like Whitney Houston and the like. Watch the beatboxing - please don't bust it out on Country Night or Broadway night.

Brandon: Your smile melts even the coldest of hearts, like OURS for example. Smile often and try LIVING the song (see Barrino, Fantasia) rather than just feeling it. Show some more personality, get out from behind the microphone stand - we want to see more of you.

Chris R: I think you are the male popstar type that American Idol is looking for. The problem is, your vocals aren't nearly as good as your competition. Continue to choose songs that hide your vocal flaws and show your charisma (see Timberlake, Justin) and you are the one to beat - of the guys anyway.

Chris S: Watch the schtick. Sure, it worked for Kellie Pickler for a while, but she is a cute, blonde girl with a sad story. You are none of those things, but you do have the vocal talent and really don't need a schtick or to strategize to get ahead. Oh, and the next time you are sarcastic to Simon, own it - particularly if it was deserved. Otherwise, you will prove those "fake" accusations right.

Gina: You are the rocker chick lost in a sea of very talented belters. Use this to your advantage and continue to sing the harder edged songs that other viewers enjoy, but SING them - shouting isn't good. Also, I think the stylist might have something against you.

Haley: You look like a Disney princess, so you have the votes of 6 year old girls and their mother's locked up. You need more than that to win, so stay away from the boring stuff you have been doing so far and vamp it up a little. Make Simon remember your name and eat his words - with some spicy sauce.

Jordin: You are adorable and are that way without trying. Stay genuine and continue to sing songs that reflect your age. You do tend to be a little too sweet with songs that don't have sweetness, but you recognize that and seem to catch yourself midway. Keep up the good work.

LaKisha: You are in the trio of belters and that can work against you because the belter votes are split three ways. You need to stand out and singing tired Whitney Houston songs from The Bodyguard soundtrack isn't the way to do that. I think you are great, but seem so reserved right before and after your performance. You seemed like fun when your family visited and "acted up" last week, so show more of that fun side.

Melinda: You are a pro, so there is really nothing I can say about your performing. There is already some backlash against you, saying that your humility is fake. I don't believe that, but it is fascinating to watch you crawl back into your shell after a powerful performance and seem surprised by the Judge's praise. You more than deserve to be there, you deserve to win. Start acting like it.

Phil: You are a handsome guy and I personally don't find your eyes frightening, but you lack the vocals of Chris S, the charisma of Chris R, and unique style of Blake. Also, your last three performances started out really rough so we are relieved on your behalf when it ends alright. Performances like that might not even get you on the tour and people probably decide if they like a performance in the first 30 seconds anyway, so work on those beginnings.

Sanjaya: The bad news is your vocals sound weak and nasally and you lack charisma. The good news is, you have the whole nonthreatening teen boy look and sweet personality that teen girls and old ladies love. That will only get you so far and has gotten further than you should have, so you have nothing to lose. Have fun out there doing whatever you want to do for the time you have left and enjoy the experience. And hell, if you can be shown petting a cute little puppy while performing, then you might make it on the tour.

Stephanie: Of the trio of belters, you seem to get lost in LaKisha and Melinda's shadows. You do have a wonderful and powerful voice, but have sounded the same in your last two performances. Change it up somehow, lose the Beyonce warbling, and set yourself apart from LaKisha and Melinda and you could steal some votes from the other contestants and maybe even from the other two belters.

So, what do you guys think?

Carrie Underwood - Back to where she started from

Yes, she did go back to American Idol but hmmm it felt a little strange. I am about to sound like Simon here, but you know when you go back home from college for a little visit and your Mom insists on taking you to see an Aunt you don't like? So then you go and it is all very awkward, but you've done your duty and are off the Aunt visiting hook for another year. That is sort of what it felt like to this viewer.

There was a nice little montage for Carrie at the beginning, but no talking to her. Not sure whose idea that was, but I think that considering all her accomplishments and the fact that Carrie has ALWAYS been appreciative of American Idol you would think that at least Ryan would talk to her about that a little and MAYBE the judges would even chime in their congratulations. That didn't happen, even though it probably would've taken two or three minutes max.

Carrie sang "Wasted" using the American Idol band, but had Fiddler Boy along and thank God she did. Was the song sped up or something? Carrie sounded really good though, some noticed a few pitchy parts as did I, but she isn't a contestant this year, so I just enjoyed the whole thing. The Idols were singing along, which was really cute - Paula was dancing, Randy and Simon were actually paying attention, unlike what they did to poor Kellie Pickler. Some wish that Carrie would have sang "Before He Cheats" instead, but after hearing what the American Idol band did to "Wasted" I am glad they left my favorite Carrie song alone.

And then it was over and much too short! I and other fans and maybe even non-fans alike, would have wanted to see more of her.

Have to discuss the shallow, like we all love to do! Remember the teal dress she wore last year to AI, the one with the peek-a-boo cut out in the bodice? I was sort of expecting something sexy like that, but we got something different this time. As you can see in the picture above, she looked absolutely gorgeous. First the hair - it was a nice change from the big curls and country hair. I liked it and more importantly, she looked her age and maybe even younger. Now the outfit....there was a whole lot of things going on, see-through leggings and an under the girls belt among others. All of these things taken separately, I don't care for, but all together it really WORKED. She was adorable little package, along with that smile of hers and flawless makeup. I am sure that Carrie has a lot of input on her look, so congrats to the stylist and Carrie herself.

Carrie has come so far in the past couple of years and as I watched the other Idols watching her, I wondered what they were thinking. Hopefully they have been following Carrie's career and took notice. Since her win on AI4 she has worked very hard, always gave due credit to the songwriters and musicians who got her to where she is today, always acknowledged American Idol and how it helped her to achieve her dream. When the new idol is crowned later this Season, hopefully he or she will follow Carrie's example of humility and gratitude.

More Anthony Fedorov goodness!!!

One of the best things about this year so far is that Anthony Fedorov is showing up everywhere now! Anthony just yesterday gave an interview with BuddyTV where he speaks at length about his American Idol experience and afterward. http://www.buddytv.com/articles/american-idol/exclusive-interview-anthony-fe-4773.aspx

In addition to the weekly article with EW where he critiques the AI judges and contestants, he was on the Mike and Juliet show this morning acting as their AI Commentator. You can watch a video of it here.

http://www.mandjshow.com/videos/the-top-8-females-sing/

He did well in this interview. Not sure if he has been getting some coaching or what, but he was less hesitant in his answers and so professional sounding - great job! I had hoped to hear him talk more about himself and his career, but alas the discussion was about none other than Antonella Barba. Anthony is a kind person, likely much less snarky than I am, so he was very diplomatic in his answers regarding the entire controversy. Then again, he is also a normal 21 year old guy with EYES, so its not like he was going to say OMG GET THIS SEXY GIRL WITH THE AVERAGE SINGING VOICE OFF MY TV NOW!!!

On to the shallow stuff; I like the longer, combed down hair much better than the shorter, spiky stuff. Looked HOT as usual. *lovesigh* I miss seeing him on TV, I really really do. He was wearing his usual interview attire, pink shirt this time. Still, very nice but then he does look heavenly in blue. BTW, the lime green shirt that he donated to charity sold for $550.00. I think he should donate the pink one next, who's with me?

He continues to have a lot of things happening in the near future, so here is an update and more details since my last Anthony blog. Thank you to FanfromCanada on anthonyfanclub.com who keeps us all updated:

American Idol Top 16 - Results

The time has finally arrived to pick the Top 12. I am not sure what to expect, it could go either way. I am preparing myself for Antonella and Sanjaya to stay. So which more deserving/talented ones will go in their place....we shall see..... I really have a love/hate relationship with this show.

Right into the group song "Stuck In The Middle With You". I've always loved this song for some reason and the group singalong was cheesy fun as usual.

They group the boys and the girls all together and dim the lights.....Blake and LaKisha were called up and BOTH are safe. Was there any doubt? Chris S. is called up by himself and Ryan makes him wait until after the break HA! He is also safe though. Next Phil Stacey and he looks like he already has his bags packed but is SAFE! He seemed very shocked at first, but then became emotional. He was in my bottom 2 last night, but I am glad he is staying.

Jared is called up and is not moving on to the Top 12. Its really too bad, but he was boring on Tuesday so its not suprising. Nice singout and his scary expressions from before were replaced by smiles tonight. Too bad he didn't sing like that on Tuesday, he might have made it.

Now its time for Chris R and Gina Glocksen, two people I really want to advance. They are holding hands and looking all Canthony. Ryan teases them and Gina says they are NOT! DATING! (not really, but HEE!). They are both SAFE though. YAY!

Carrie Underwood performed "Wasted". EEEEEEEE!!!! I will be posting a more detailed blog on this tomorrow, so check back!

More results....Antonella and Stephanie are both called up and I half expect both of them to be cut loose right there. Its just Antonella though, Stephanie is safe. Antonella does her singout and leaves the stage. Will we hear or see more of her again? Who knows....

Next up Haley and Sabrina and awww I feel bad for those two because one of them is leaving and its so intense. Haley is SAFE and wow this one is a shock! Not that she is a bad singer or anything, but Sabrina is so GOOD. Its seems like this was the "Screw you, Simon" vote that happens every Season. Simon was pretty awful to Haley, particularly with the whole "I can't even remember your name" stuff. Oh well, Sabrina pays for Simon's toolishness and has an awesome singout. I hope she gets a deal or something out of all this.

Ryan talks about the upcoming charity event that American Idol is doing at the end of April. More information about this can be found here. http://www.americanidol.com/news/view/?pid=329

The final elimination between Sundance and Sanjaya. I'd be fine with either of them leaving, but it should really be Sanjaya. Its SUNDANCE! The crowd actually gasps in suprise, Simon slow claps with a WTF look on his face and Paula is "speechless" - but not really because "its a singing competition, no offense to Sanjaya". LOL! How is Sanjaya supposed to take that statement, Paula?

Sundance has a good sense of humor about the whole thing, which is refreshing. I guess he gets more emotional over other people leaving rather than himself. He did his singout of "Jeremy", which unfortunately was just as bad as Tuesday night. Bad, bad song choice. I guess the Chicken Little effect is alive and well an worked for Sanjaya. Its a phenomenon that cannot be explained.

No more Oliwood? SAY IT ISN'T SO!!!!

This saga continues! Of course, its from the National Enquirer and is probably utter BS, but its fun to read and snark on, no?
whatneverwas posted this in the first Oliwood post here, http://delusionfree.blogspot.com/2007/02/oliwood-well-its-looking-better-than.html but since we are all wondering if Carrie will meet up with Oli-T again while in LA, why not give this its own post? Hee!

BWAH! Who knew Romowood is just as tenacious as Canthony?! This is apparently the newest article in NE regarding the Romowood saga:

Carrie and Tony Part II? American idol winner Carrie Underwood earlier denied she was ever involved a romance with Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo. Trouble is - Romo was the one that brought it up in an interview with a newspaper in Illinois. The latest love speculation for the gorgeous country music star was that she was dating British singer Oliver Trevena. According to a report from Us Weekly magazine the pair, says a source, began dating just weeks ago, and on January 28 got cozy when he dropped her off at LAX airport in L.A.

American Idol Carrie Underwood & Cowboys QB Tony Romo, Part II? As it goes now a report says that kicked in the jealousy for the star QB and he is again pursuing Carrie. According to a report in the National Enquirer "When Tony heard that Carrie was dating new guys he realized how much he missed her," a chatty insider dished to the magazine. Apparently things have cooled a bit between Trevena and Carrie according to the report. When he jetted to see the talented songstress on Valentine's day to see her, he brought an expensive gift. That was a bit much according to the report. Carrie told the heartbroken singer she was too busy recording to see him and the insider dished that she now realizes that she has strong feelings for Romo. She has even met the family, the report claims. "Tony's family loved her, and and now the couple is back stronger than ever," the insider dished.

Ugh Carrie! Break Oli T.'s heart like that?! When he's the most devoted bodyguard you ever had?!

And who are these gushing insider sources? Ohhhh what is going to happen? Is Romowood going to reunite, even though they were never together in the first place? Will the Canthony believers be disappointed yet again? Will the Romowood people, the Canthony people, the Oliwood people, the McWood people, and any other shippers all get into a huge brawl over this? Who knows, so I will just scan the crowd tonight to see if Oli-T is in attendance. Or another cuddly Hyde appearance would work, either one.

American Idol Top 8 Women

Once again, the girls put the boys to shame immediately. Like Fork said this morning, it could be all female finalists at some point and that could be really REALLY boring. Ok, maybe Chris R might sneak in there.

Jordin Sparks: Her revelation is that she is a huge football fan and paints her face and stuff. I can actually see that. She sang Pat Benetar's "Heartbreaker". This girl really owns the stage, not one bit of nerves. Overall, a really good performance but she lacked the rocker growl that a song like that needs. Simon thought she was "screechy" but meh, its that kind of song.

Sabrina Sloan: She wanted to be the next Katie Couric in High School. Sang En Vogue's "Don't Let Go" and to use Randy's line, it was just alright for me. She can definitely sing, but something was lacking. Is it nerves? Is she the new Bot? What?

Antonella Barba: Used to play the violin in High School and sometimes gives lessons when home from college. Sang "Girl Put Your Records On" and it was her best performance since the Top 24. What I mean by that is that it wasn't painful to listen to and was even nice at times. Paula then proceeds to damn her with faint praise and then Simon follows that up with saying what we are all thinking; No more BS, she has gone as far as she can. Antonella takes it well and has left the attitude at the door. Between the 'tude adjustment and Simon bringing up the whole negative press stuff, she will make the Top 12. Damn IT!

Haley Scarnato: Was a gymnast as a child until her body started falling apart. Ok, what the hell is she singing? I am already bored, so my mind starts to wander a bit; really pretty girl, cute top, nice teeth, is Simon going to make her cry again? Well, he didn't make her cry this time even though he couldn't remember HER NAME. Goodbye Haley, you seem very sweet -the Sanjaya of the girls, if you will. Its time to go home to that cute fiance of yours.

LaKisha Jones: She revealed that she is terrified of animals, which makes me a little sad for her. Sang "I Am Nothing" and it was my least favorite performance of hers - just another adequate Whitney for me, nothing special like her two previous performances. Judges love her and liked the performance better than I did. I LOVE her Mom and Aunt. I get the feeling that LaKisha is probably as fun and crazy as they are and I hope we get to see more of that personality show.

Gina Glocksen: She showed us all her lucky charms, including one really dirty looking Mr. Pickle - washing it won't make it less lucky. Sang "Call Me When You're Sober" and while I loved her energy and the whole look, she shouted that song and it wasn't as good as she is probably capable of. I still really like her and hope she stays. And Simon did make her cry, but in a good way awwwww.

Melinda Doolittle: Melinda has OCD tendencies, so once again I identify with her LOL. Sang some kind of firecracker song that I never heard before but LOVED IT. Other than the occasional awkward Leslie-esque stage movements, it was flawless. She will make it to the Top 12, no problem, but I am concerned that people will take her for granted and she will be voted out too early.

Top 2: Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks
Bottom 2: Antonella Barba and Haley Scarnato
In danger of not making the Top 12: Gina Glocksen and Sabrina Sloan

American Idol Top 8 Men

Ohhhh they are revealing stuff about themselves. And no, its not as juicy as you might think.

Blake Lewis: He loves impressions and Halloween. Oh my Blake, I agree with you on Halloween, impressions? You lost me..... Sang "All Mixed Up" and the entire time I kept wondering what the hell was he thinking wearing those pants - made him look squatty and chubby; two things I never thought I would say about my Blake Lewis. As usual, did a great job with the vocals and found a variety of ways to beatbox over the word "ass". Is there anything that My Blake Lewis can't do?

Sanjaya Malakar: He is a hula dancer! Between that and the flat-ironed hair, I will just leave it alone. He then proceeded to nasal up John Mayer's "Waiting For the World To Change". On the plus side, he seemed more confident and actually sang rather than whispered. On the negative side, it just wasn't that good. Poor Paula was turning herself inside out trying to be nice and if PAULA is having that problem, then its time let this sweet boy go home.

Sundance Head: Did you know that he has a thin person living inside him? Yeah, don't we all? He sang Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" and proceeded to suck all the tragedy out of the song and turn it into....I can't put my finger on it but Simon said he was like a bar singer. I'll go with that.

Chris Richardson: He used to be chunky! They showed some pictures and he was still damn sexy! He sang Keith Urban's "Tonight I Wanna Cry" and it was a ok, a little on the boring side though. And YES Simon, I agree with you that it was a little nasally. Something also occured to me....he is just as pretty as Antonella, but without the attitude. I like this guy and even with the meh performance tonight, he really is the entire package and is the one to beat.

Jared Cotter: Played college basketball and decided to go into singing when he realised he wasn't going into the NBA. Sang "If You Really Loved Me" while rocking the Dad sweater. He has a nice voice, no doubt, but that performance left me cold and he seems to have acquired some scary facial expressions he didn't have before. Paula thinks he needs to step up his game and I agree with her.

Paula is quite lucid and eloquent tonight, no?

Brandon Rogers: He is a classical pianist and for some reason, that really didn't surprise me. Sang "I Just Want To Celebrate" and I liked it but fear that he is pretty forgettable. Did Simon just call him "Travis"? See what I mean?

Phil Stacey: He is bald on purpose and used to have hair. This is good to know because I have carefully refrained from commenting on the bald head because I thought maybe he had a medical condition. Grow the hair back. He sang LeeAnn Rimes "I Need You" and oh, the beginning was painful and the rest of it was a hot mess. He also was a little sarcastic towards the judges and while I am all for sarcasm, its not good after a sucktastic performance and before the Top 12 is selected.

Chris Sligh: His revelation is that his hair is REAL. Was there any doubt about that? Sang "We All Just Wanna Be Loved" and it was my least favorite performance of his so far. Nice note at the end, but he could have done so much better. Judges also had the same sentiment and Chris promptly played the humble card by apologizing for not bringing it this week. Nice move, but don't overdo it.

Top 2: Blake Lewis and Chris Richardson CAKE SQUEEEE!
Bottom 2: Sanjaya Malakar and Phil Stacey
In danger of not making Top 12: Brandon Rogers and Jared Cotter

Thoughts on Fandom

Watching American Idol again has caused me to reflect on the past two years when I first became a big fan of both Carrie Underwood and Anthony Fedorov. It was the first time I ever became a big "fan" of anyone and it exposed me to the whole new world of Fandom that I was before blissfully unaware of. I not only enjoyed my time in the Fandoms I actively took part in, but it was also interesting - and at times entertaining - to observe other fandoms as well. During my time spent in this world, I met some wonderful people who, though I have not met any of them personally or even spoken to them on the telephone, have certainly brightened and enriched my life. I enjoy all the conversations we have both on message boards and off.

There are also those fans who are very dedicated to not only the person they are a fan of, but to their fellow fans. They spend hours providing media for all the fans to enjoy, act as moderators (usually a thankless job), tracking down all the latest news and interviews, and are always available to answer questions any new fans might have. Much of this is done out of the goodness of their hearts and I find them invaluable to a Fandom. And finally, there are the majority of fans who never cause any trouble, yet are not afraid to post their thoughts and opinions which make a fansite an interesting place to be a part of. Although I might not know them personally, it feels as though I do and I appreciate every single one of them.

There are also the bad apples of fandom. I would be remiss if I didn't admit that at times I haven't always been perfect and may have on occasion fallen into a couple of categories, but I have learned and try to not make the same annoying mistakes repeatedly. The following examples are pretty common in Fandom and are usually benign, unless there are large numbers of them or things are taken to the extreme. Then it can be a real problem.

Angelwingers: There are a couple American Idol fan groups, we all know who they are, that are notorious for this and cause other fan groups to either despise them or snicker at them. The Angelwingers simply cannot stomach anyone ANYWHERE having something negative to say about the person they are a fan of, even if there is evidence that its true or only a valid opinion. They will spend untold amounts of time writing editors and columnists who had the audacity to not be "mojo'd" by a performer. They will boycott SERIOUSLY another celebrity that is negative in any small way toward the same person they admire so much and rail against the "haters" on every message board imaginable and think of several outlandish conspiracy theories as to why their Idol didn't win. At the same time, their adored Idol can refer to their fans as "fat bitter whores on a good day" and some of those same fans will excuse that appalling behavior rather than admit they might have wasted precious time supporting someone that was undeserving of it. This results in a Fandom that has a bad reputation among people in the industry, other fangroups, and ultimately can reflect badly on the very person they idolize.

Pearlclutchers: The Pearlclutchers see things through rose colored glasses, everything that happens surrounding the Idol they admire is a matter of life or death and they often times forget that the person they admire is an an adult with all their mental faculties intact. For example, if their Idol's career isn't going exactly as this fan thinks should happen, well then its all over! They are a failure and will never have a singing career! Dating is another issue; if a male Idol dates or shows an interest in someone, the "he is too good for her" and "she might take advantage of him and hold him back" kind of talk starts up, sometimes it gets even cattier than that. If the female Idol dates, well then it cannot be discussed. At all. Even if she discusses her relationship in an interview, then its best that you carefully refrain from mentioning that part of the interview when you post; and if there are public pictures of her with said boyfriend, then for the love of God DO NOT POST THEM! Otherwise, you run the risk of having a whole swarm of pearlclutchers coming down on you for "spreading rumors and invading her privacy" and loudly shouting for the moderators to LOCK! THIS! THREAD! On the other hand, when their idol has been proven to have said or done something they disapprove of - and it doesn't take much - there is much wailing of "where is the sweet boy/girl that I fell in love with who would never do something like that! They must have changed!" Of course, a whole lot of unnecessary fandom angst predictably ensues. Usually its not that the Idol changed or did anything really wrong, only that he/she didn't live up to the impossible expectations and projections that were placed on them.

Hand-slapping Mamas: This is a variation of the Pearlclutcher who act as self-appointed "junior mods" and feel it is their duty to tell other members what is and is not acceptable to discuss at any given time. A good example of a handslap is, "I can't believe you people! You claim to be fans and yet you continue to...." and a long and often times boring lecture follows. What the little hand-slapper really means to say is, "I can't tolerate ANY talk about this subject because I have issues and it makes ME uncomfortable, so to hell with the rest of you, y'all suck and are not a true fan like I AM." If there's a good amount of these hand-slappers running rampant and unchallenged, it results in a boring fandom where fans are afraid to say anything other than, "Cool! Thanks for posting."

BFF's and Insiders: These fans are funny to watch, but can cause a lot of trouble if they are allowed to get out of hand. The BFF's and Insiders weasel their way into the good graces of the gullible family, friends, bandmembers and acquaintances of the one they admire. Immediately, they get an over-inflated sense of their importance to the Fandom and even to the person they are a fan of. This results in the person becoming insufferable and outright rude to other fans. They inevitably act as a self-appointed spokesperson on all matters concerning their Idol, and tease other members with SUPER TOP SECRET information that only those they deem worthy can know. Of course, their information is usually crap and there is an either an inevitable fall from grace or a direct smackdown from the one they so admired. When its all over, they wonder why they don't have any fandom friends left to cushion the fall.

While the above bad apples in large numbers can be trouble enough, the next two types are the really rotten ones of the bunch; these are the ones that can ruin a fansite and divide a Fandom if allowed to go unchecked.

The Bitter: One day, they seem perfectly fine and sane but something SNAPS! Suddenly, they are very upset with the fansite, the admins and mods, more than a few other fans and at times the very person they were a fan of. Long dissertations are posted as to why they are so angry, how they are the only person "honest" enough to address said issues. A whole big hoopla starts and people are called out either by name or by not-so-subtle hinting, leaving most other fans shrugging and wondering WTF just happened? If challenged, they retreat somewhat, bat their eyelashes and seem so surprised at the shitstorm they started up and claim they only have everyone's best interests at heart. Please. You would think that if they are so unhappy, the Bitter would just leave. However, the Bitter usually end up staying and spend their time spreading joy by make sniping comments towards other members in various threads, making vague references on how they have been wronged and hinting darkly of things they know that would SHOCK US ALL!!!! For crying out loud, if your are so miserable, just LEAVE already!

The Recurrent Suicidal: This is a variation on the bitter fan, but its taken to a whole other level of crazy. I am not talking about suicide in the literal and serious sense, I am talking about repeated "messageboard suicides". It starts out first with this person committing a board suicide by saying they are LEAVING! THE! BOARD! and are never coming back, for reasons that are vague at best but usually make no sense whatsoever to the casual fan who just wants an update on their Idol. After much drama and self-important ranting, it eventually ends in a "Goodbye CRUEL board!!!!!" post. Some softhearted regulars will fall all over themselves convincing this person to step back from the ledge and stay because the fansite wouldn't be the same without them blah blah blah. So of course, the Recurrent Suicidal magnanimously agrees to stay and continue to grace us with his/her presence. A few months pass, another board suicide from the same person predictably happens. This time, not so many people care if he/she stays or goes, but a decent amount of fellow fans pay enough attention to make this second board suicide attempt worthwhile. Lather, rinse, repeat - emotional manipulation at its best! This continues until finally the only people that care about the Recurrent Suicidal leaving is a few impressionable youngsters and a few fellow McBitters, but the damage has already been done which is exactly what the recurrent suicidal wanted. The last suicide is never, ever final - they just keep coming back like a batshit crazy phoenix rising from the ashes.

Despite the nonsense from the very very few, my first experience with being a fan has been fun overall. I learned many things about myself and about people in general, particularly when we are somewhat protected by internet anonymity. Most importantly, the key to always enjoy being a fan is to not take it so seriously and never put any human being on a pedestal; celebrate all the wonderful successes that comes to the person you admire and don't panic during the low points; and finally, remember the person you became a fan of and the reasons why - that keeps everything in perspective and excessive drama at bay.

American Idol Top 20 - Results

Soooooo, what is going to happen? Will America put Sanjaya out of his misery? Will Nick stay to bore us again or was it too little too late for Sundance? Will Antonella stay on, thus proving that the terrorists have indeed won? Will Alaina be voted off after two weak performances in a row? I can barely wait to find out.....

The group sang "Joy To The World" and while cheesy as all hell, I did enjoy this one.

First Men's Elimination: Phil borrowed one of Blake's fugly hats, but is safe! YAY Chris Sligh is SAFE! Sundance looks like he is going to have a breakdown, but is safe! Blake...omg I feel nervous.... IS SAFE!!!!!

Jared is called down and is toyed with a little bit, but is safe. Nick immediately got the Tall Quad treatment and was swiftly axed. He had a very classy singout and you could tell that the other idols really loved him.

First Women's Elimination: Stephanie is safe, Gina is safe, Sabrina is safe, Melinda is safe. No surprises here. Alaina was quickly axed as well and got choked up while saying goodbye and YES, it touched me. Laugh all you want! She chose to hug her friends instead of singing the first part of her singout and that was a good choice.

Kellie Pickler is back and sang a song she co-wrote, "I Wonder" and has grown as a singer since last year.

Second Men's Elimination: Chris R is safe! Brandon is safe! Sanjaya and AJ are called forward and Sanjaya is SAFE! What the?! Noooooooooo!!!!! Sanjaya is shocked and yep, I am too. I didn't have any illusions of AJ winning this, but I really felt he deserved to be in the Top 12 at least. He then gave an incredible singout which showed how wrong these results were.

Second Women's Elimination: Ryan doesn't screw with them, LaKisha and Haley are safe. Antonella, Leslie and Jordin are called to The Seal. Ryan does screw with Antonella (heh) but she is safe. Oh CRAP! Leslie goes home and does an awesome singout where she wonders why she scatted and America hates jazz. Awesome!
