So as I watched tonight, I scanned the crowd for Anthony Fedorov. He said he would be there and would it kill them to actually show him on camera, but not by accident? Apparently so, because I missed him completely, although some eagle-eyed Feds did spot him. Why don't they ever show him on purpose? I don't want to get all conspiratorial and say its that TPTB must hide him because he was in the audience to see his TRUE LOVE Diana Ross perform or anything, but when they don't they show that hunk of Blonde Gorgeous when he is right there what else am I left with?The judges are introduced and Simon is looking yummy and uncharacteristically angelic in white. Then in to the group song, which is a medley of our favorite "Baby Love" and then "Stop In The Name of Love". We have all made our feelings clear on "Baby Love" but I do love "Stop". Why? Because it brings back childhood memories of singing this song with my little neighbor friends. I can't even begin to explain why we knew all the words to this song since NONE of us were even born in the 60's and we were about 6 years old, but the song never fails to make me smile.
Ohhh Elimination time! LaKisha and Gina are SAFE! Brandon is the first to hit the seal - not surprised, but still sad to see it. Jordin, Chris R, Melinda (crowd LOVES her!) are all SAFE! Now Phil joins Brandon on the seal and this really sucks. Chris S is SAFE and one lucky bastard after the travesty of last night. Stephanie and Blake (another crowd favorite) are SAFE! Sanjaya and Haley are tortured through the commercial break and Diana Ross. I might as well keep with the conspiracy theme and speculate that TPTB are making those two PAY for lasting this long.
Diana Ross made a very divalicious entrance and sang "I Love You More Today Than Yesterday". I might not be a fan, but I have a lot of respect for her and can see why she has endured to this day.
Now back to business....Sanjaya and Haley stand up and Haley is SAFE. Meh. Sanjaya joins the rest at the seal and Phil is sent back. YAY. Now Ryan breaks the news that Brandon will be leaving us. Awww, this is really sad and I will miss that smile. And TPTB didn't even air his singout!

This was a cute interview! Anthony didn't say anything new regarding his career, but seems very VERY pleased right now with how things are going. Seeing him so happy makes me a happy fan. Maybe its also that Spring has sprung? Birds, bees, flowers and trees and all that good, happy and looooove stuff. ;)
They asked him about Sanjaya and I was dying to see how he answered this one. Loved the little smirk there LOL! He was very sweet and diplomatic though, as usual. Good boy.
Now, the usual hair report. Anthony looked handsome as always, but does he have a fauxhawk this time? Hee! He kind of does, but its cute!
Back to American Idol for a minute, Blake was really broken up over Brandon leaving tonight as you could see in the video. Awww, come here sweetie for your hug and let it all out. Those of you who don't like American Idol crying (you know who you are) ZIP IT! when it comes to MY BLAKE LEWIS. I kid, I kid.....

Not surprised at Brandon. I can't say if he was the worst, but I saw his performance last night and it was really bad. He was going out on a bad performance. Although I think everyone knows he's a better singer than Sanjaya is. Tough luck. I'm not surprised anymore Sanjaya is staying. I'd probably be more shocked when he finally goes.
Is it just me or are they McPhee-ing Haley? I had to look twice because I thought I saw McPhee on stage with the cleavage and the curly hair.

I saw that screenshot and those other people in the audience during the show but somehow missed Anthony. I swear he must duck out of shot when he thinks we're looking. ( I have yet to watch the video but will comment on it once I do).
Ok Spork, did we grow up with the same group of little friends because my friends and I also used to sing STOP!... and included the universal choreography to the song that I think is just inborn. You just know it in spite of yourself.
On to the show. Sanjaya is definitely this season's Chicken Little. Unless he willingly bows out I think we're stuck with him for awhile which is a little sad because it means we are going to lose far superior singers in his place.
Was I surprised to see Brandon go? Nope. He was in my bottom 3. I don't even think Brandon was surprised to see Brandon go. But oh how I will miss that smile.
And yes, Simon needs to wear that white shirt more often. I LIKED it!

CRYBABY! WUSS BOY! (What?! You're the only one who can kid here?:-P). Hey, there is a time and place for crying. When your friends leave, you can cry. Let it out Blake! You cannot cry, however, the minute Simon begins to speak regardless of whether it is negative or positive...HALEY!
Ok I watched the Anthony video clip. Loved it! He seems so happy with life and how things are going for him and for the first time he was able to give specifics and say look at all of these great things that I've got coming up. I appreciate that he acknowledges that the album is not coming together as quickly as he had initially hoped but many many artists spend a couple of years putting together their first album and many of those albums end up being HUGE successes. So I'd rather wait to get a quality album with more of Anthony's original music and first rate songs by other songwriters than be stuck with a second rate album that was rushed.
I also like that Anthony was honest but diplomatic about Sanjaya by saying that he was surprised Brandon was sent home. I was also surprised that he gave up who some of his favorites were. I know before he had said that he didn't want to say.
On to other things I notice in the clip. Goodness Blake, I think you may give Carrie a run for her money for the award for most complete emotional breakdown when your friend leaves the show. Think there was a sign language "I Love You" in there somehwere?;-).
Other thing I noticed was Simon taking the time to talk to Brandon after the show likely giving him advice on where he needs to go from here. No matter what people think about Simon, I think hre really does care about these contestants and the man knows his stuff. I hope Brandon was listening.

I like and sometimes even love Simon. Yes, he can be a real ass sometimes ("I can't remember your name" and "You look like a bush baby" come to mind) but he is HONEST when its needed, even when it hurts and for that he has my respect. Letting some of these kids persist in a delusion would only hurt them even more later on.

I also loved the fact that Anthony was able to give a list of his projects rather than just "I am working on my CD" answer, that he's been stuck with for so long. And I loved it that the interviewer thought he was an AI success story.
But, oh, that hair. We have to do something about it. I much preferred his "Mike and Juliet" look.
As far as Blake, I read on EW that Brandon was his closest friend on the show and, not only that, but Brandon hooked him up with the 311 band members to get their permission for "Mixed Up". Poor Blake. Now he'll need to find a new BFF.

I do think that now there is a lot more pressure on contestants this season and people who are watching the show expect more from them because of the success we've seen come out it by past winners and non-winners. And the more we see past contestents accomplish, the higher that bar is going to be raised.
Aww Brandon has a great voice too, it just shows you that you make a mistake like that and you are gone.

This season has more talent than last year but I will always ve biased and say that season 4 was the best because of obvious reasons. However, this season does have a number of big hitters in the ladies.
