The Top 12 run across the stage so fast that I just barely catch a glimpse of them - Where are Chris Sligh's glasses? Gina looks great! Sanjaya's hair WTF?! That is child abuse right there....
Brandon Rogers: Had his little meeting with Diana Ross and she told him to do something from his heart, take something from heart? Sang "Can't Hurry Love" and it was tad cheesy and a whole lot of boring. I guess he also forgot some words, but I didn't notice it until Simon mentioned it. Simon also was a bit much in his criticism; it wasn't THAT bad, but I would say this was almost as bad as "Time After Time".
Melinda Doolittle: Wearing a grey dress....has she ever worn colors since the Top 24? Hates high heels and dresses, I so want to be her best friend! Sang "Home" from The Wiz and made a boring song bearable. She sounded great and even become overwhelmed a bit herself, awwww but wish she chose something different. She's teary, Paula is crying it was great!
Chris Sligh: He says he doesn't have a nervous bone, but Diana says that he does. Hmmmm. He sang "Endless" love but did tell us that he changed the arrangement. He did more than changed it, he brutalized it. This was SO! BAD! I was cringing for him as he sang this sped up boring mess, although I did like the chorus a little bit. Paula told him he is trying too hard. Preach it Paula! After that mess, he is in real danger of leaving tomorrow and that is too bad.
Gina Glocksen: She was told by Diana that she needed to be sure to enunciate. Sang "Love Child" and proceeded to mush mouth through a good deal of it. Also, it was really REALLY boring. Why are two of my faves disappointing me tonight?
Sanjaya Malakar: Performed "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" I can't even say he sang it because OMG he sucked the passion and everything that was good about that song. Dropped notes, at times it sounded more like talking than whispering. The last note....just killed me and not in a good way. America, its cruel to let him go any further, please make it stop! Randy was openly laughing, Paula talked about his sweet spirit again because what else can you say? Simon talked about whales.....and the bangin' hair.....
Haley Scarnato: Once again, chose a boring song "Missing You". Rough beginning, she was almost whispering. The middle where she stood up was a real mess and I guess that is where she forgot the words. Somewhere, Melissa McGhee might be feeling a little vindicated for her "recognition wishes" or whatever went wrong with her lyrics last year. Anyway, poor Haley was really struggling with nerves, you could tell. I feel so bad for her, damn....Randy and Paula told her the truth. SIMON! He must have been feeling guilty for last week and rightly so, but he was really too nice. Putting on my conspiracy hat, I would have to say Simon isn't stupid and wants her gone - he isn't going to risk another "Screw You Simon" vote at the expense of someone else again.
Phil Stacey: Sang "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me". It was a big improvement over last week and really just good over all. Nice vocals, just enough energy to make it interesting without looking spastic. Good job.
LaKisha Jones: Sang "God Bless The Child". First off, I love this song and was a little worried that LaKisha would go for some cheap glory notes just because she can. She didn't though and I thought the whole thing was flawless. For the first time, I favored her over Melinda.
Blake Lewis: Sang/Performed "Keep Me Hanging On", rearranged to his style of course. Hmmmm, not as bad as Chris S rearrangement by any stretch, but still not great. The vocals weren't his best, but the performance part of it was good. I guess he did the best he could with what he had, not much else to say.
Stephanie Edwards: Sang "Love Hangover" and while her vocals are really sweet to hear, the whole thing was kind of boring. I also agreed wholeheartedly with the judges, she was outsung by Melinda and LaKisha and really should have done the fun Disco version that I thought she was going to do.
Chris Richardson: Performed "The Boss". WOW, he is really entertaining to watch but the vocals were so much more nasally this time. Not DREADFUL like Simon had said it was, but Chris really needs work when it comes to toning down the nasal.
Jordin Sparks: Sang "Hold On Together"? Not sure on the title....she was looking gorgeous and the whole thing was really REALLY good. I keep waiting for her to seem young and inexperienced at times, but she gets better from week to week. I almost love her as much as Melinda. Almost.
After tonight, I fear it will be all women in the Top 6. That could be kind of boring, I hope the guys improve.
Top 3 (In Order): LaKisha, Melinda and Jordin
Bottom 3 (No Order): Sanjaya and Haley (as usual); Brandon (for disappointing me 2 weeks in row)

Brandon Rogers: I understand 'You Can't Hurry Love' but can you remember the words to a 2 minute song...PLEASE?! Brandon! What is going on with you?! Simon was over the top harsh with Brandon tonight but I think of all the contestants, he is feeling let down the most by Brandon. I think he, like the rest of us had higher hopes.
Melinda Doolittle: I love her! I love that she hates to dress up. I loved the song. I love that she got choked up by how well she did. I love that she even got Simon too kerfuffled to speak intelligently. I love that when Ryan asked her what was going through her mind on the stage she looked at him and said, 'I don't remember.'
Chris Sligh: Chris! When Ms. Diana Ross tells you not to mess with the melody you DO NOT MESS WITH THE MELODY! What WAS that hot buttered mess of an arrangement?! To you I say YUCK!...and put your glasses back on.
Gina Glocksen: 'Pronounciate' is a word. So says Diana Ross. So I will say that I felt that Gina pronunciated well for the most part until the end. The problem was that she shoutiated the song and it was boringiated. I thought she looked pretty though.
Sanjaya Malakar: Oprah! Oh wait. No that's just Sanjaya. What the heck did they do to his hair?! Here is what I decided about Sanjaya's singing. It's like he's trying to not wake the baby in the other room. He's almost whispering. I didn't see his original audition but I'm trying to imagine what the judges saw in his voice back then. Please let this kid go home. he's just not ready for this.
Haley Scarnato: I actually had high hopes for Haley with this song...and then she began singing...and it was breathy and not good...right up until it became shouty and even worse. I did not enjoy this. And then Simon was nice to her and guess what? She CRIED! What do you want from him Haley?! He's mean to you and you cry. He's nice to you and you cry. Lucky for you, you redeemed youself a little when you called yourself a schmuck because I'm a sucker for some self deprecating humor. That may have saved you from my bottom 2 tonight.
Phil Stacey: Nice vocal. I liked this. Good job Phil. Bald head still a little scary though.
LaKisha Jones: Hot damn! Kiki brought the Yo! That was great. She's still no melinda for me but she was goooood.
Blake Lewis: Blake's favorite performer of all time is Michael Jackson. That's strike 1 Blake. Watch yourself. Much better arrangement than what Chris S did but the vocals just weren't htere tonight. Definitely not his best and I certainly hope he doesn't plan to put a techno beat to EVERYTHING.
Stephanie Edwards: I agree with spork. Pretty vocals and I liked the dress but that was boring. Since I wasn't familiar with this song I didn't realize that she also forgot some words.
Chris Richardson: Chris is a great performer but he needs to quit singing out of his nose. Immediately. He needs to stop this immediately.
Jordin Sparks: Oh my gosh she is just a cutie. She had a little more vibrato in her voice than I usually like but I thought she sounded terrific overall and she performed it incredibly well. It was a sweet song for a 17 year old to sing but i don't agree with Simon that it was gooey at all.
These boys had better pick it up. And everyone better start learning the lyrics.
Top 3 (In Order): Melinda, Jordan and Lakisha (tie for second)
Bottom 3 (No Order): Sanjaya, Brandon, Chris S. (Haley you are on the bubble this week).
Brandon: See---smiling pretty will not get you everything. And how do you mess up the words to such a well known song? Such a disappointment, sad really.
Melinda: Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Definitely a hard act to follow.
Chris S: Where are your glasses? Your squinty eyes are distracting me. Horrible arrangement, don't do that ever again. Sorry to say but that was bottom 3 for me.
Gina: I, too, used to sing "Love Child" as a child and didn't care what it meant! But your mushy mouth performance was just meh for me.
Sanjaya: Take that crazy perm-gone-wrong hairstyle and go home! Sheeshhh....it was just BAD!
Haley: I'm going to go with Simon, it wasn't horrible, but by no means was it great. And you were doing so well....why'd you have to go and cry?!
Phil: Much better than last week's mess. I liked it. Good job.
Lakisha: Oy! You looked great. You sounded great. You are great!
Blake: I liked it. It was different, it caught my attention, and I thought it sounded good. But big No NO on the MJ thing!
Stephanie: No disco? Such a bummer. The whole thing fell flat for me without that little extra umph. And if you close your eyes and listen, it's Beyonce's voice coming out of Stephanie's mouth.
Chris R: It was obviously nasally, but by far my favorite of the night for the gents. Maybe I'm just partial...
Jordin: Wow! That was good. Are you sure you're only 17? hmmmm Definitely an in it to win it performance.
Bottom 3: Sanjaya, Brandon, Chris S.
Top 3: Melinda, Jordin, Lakisha

EEEK! How weird is that to see Sanjaya! up there with LaKisha and Melinda.
And Blake in the bottom three? That really does surprise me, but the other two names don't.
I think we need to ground all the little teenage girls who are texting their hearts out for Sanjaya. Just take away their phone privileges. Right now.
I managed to catch the first three performances before I went out.
Brandon: It was like a non-performance. Bad and the dance moves were totally cheesy. I agree with Randy - it was like he reverted back to being a back-up singer instead of being a solo singer on the big stage. Which is a shame because we see the other back-up singer doing the exact opposite. I think he's the contestant who would crash and burn soon. Started with great potential but didn't wow us when it counted the most.
Sligh: The arrangement was funky. It reminded me of a Coldplay song. I don't think it was the kind of song you play with like that. I understand his point of wanting to make the song his own but you gotta choose which songs you can make your own too and not butcher it at the same time. Definitely his worst performance.
Melinda: What can I say? Is there anyone who would bring this lady down?! Song is boooooooring as crap, but Melinda proved she's no longer a back-up singer anymore and never will be again.
And then I went out. So I didn't catch the others. But rulz told me just to go to Youtube and watch Melinda, Lakisha, Jordin and Blake's. Which meant this episode had the makings of a trainwreck.

DI has been hit and miss this season lately. They were right about Sabrina, wrong about Antonella. They were right about Sundance, wrong about Phil. So I think they might get just 1 out their three predicted "bottom three" correct for tonight.
EEEK! How weird is that to see Sanjaya! up there with LaKisha and Melinda.
If it's even considered a silver lining, Simon said he will resign on Idol if Sanjaya wins. Heh!
I'm not gonna comment on everyone but..
Jordin is so lovely and she's now my 2nd favourite girl because she can sing, is improving and she is sooo pretty.
Melinda is just amazing. She doesn't only sing every song, she performs it and well, top girl again, top idol!
Chris Sligh WTF are you doing changing the arrangement of a song that probably means a whole lot to a million viewers?! I can just hear all the married couples who danced their first dance to this screaming. Silly move and I hated it.
I so want Gina to be able to sing better but every week she just shouts a bit. I like her, think she's lovely but her voice is disappointing.
Brandon, oh dear. I guess we can put your loss of memory down to nerves but to be honest, there is no excuse! This is one of the most famous songs and you forgot the lyrics, and then just STOP! I love his voice but he wasn't great this week.
I hope next week is better!
