Good Luck Anthony!

I am a HUGE fan and have been following his career since he was on American Idol and he has always made me proud. He has been working very hard and this role is such a great payoff, not only for him, but for fans like me who have been rooting for him all this time.

Anthony, I will be unable to see you perform but I have no doubt that you will do a wonderful job. Congratulations on this next step in your career and I am sure that you will gain many new fans during your run and bring you even closer to fulfilling your other dreams. We love you! Old pics, new to us!

Some recently found pics of Carrie taken sometime last year. Pictured with her, a really big fish and some guy she hung out with for a while last year.

I should hate her because she looks PERFECT in a bikini and she probably doesn't even think she does, but I do! This girl has everything! I do hate her!

Kidding! I love Carrie, which is why I love these pictures!

Thanks What for finding.

Top 6 Results - Psych!

The Idol Gives Back results show starts and its the most SHOCKING results in American Idol history! I guess I should prepare for Melinda, Jordin, or Blake leaving us.

Throughout the show, there were several touching stories shown - children in need here and in Africa. If you wish to donate or find out more information on what is needed to help, please check out www.americanidol.com and www.one.org

Now to the Walt Disney Concert Hall for the first act and its Earth, Wind, and Fire! I really do have a great fondness for Disco and they are one of my favorites. They performed a medley of a few of their songs and I wondered if 35 years ago they thought they would still be performing this stuff.

Quincy Jones wrote a special song for tonight called "Time to Care". The idols performed this, all dressed in white - the whole thing was very good, very polished.

I am sorry, but I missed what happened next. Had a bit of a family issue to take care of but was back in time for Jack Black. He performed part of "Kiss From A Rose" with his Tenacious D partner holding a rose and acting as his Pigtails Girl. The judges panned him, but Simon said he was better than Sanjaya. Sanjaya is in the audience and is a good sport about the whole thing - too bad his fan's won't be as amused. Seal also didn't seem amused but PSYCH! He really thought it was the best thing ever!

Results! Blake is SAFE!

Carrie's on! Her rendition of The Pretender's "I'll Stand By You"....WOW! I usually don't like covers as much, even when performed by artists I really love. Carrie's version was better and even more touching to me. She sang with such emotion and there was even this sort of cry to her voice that I can't explain, but CHILLS people CHILLS! Then came the huge lump in my throat while watching Carrie and her band interact with the children in Africa....kids holding up little Carrie dolls....putting flowers on graves..... Not going to cry, not going to cry....ok, I lost it when they were praying and Carrie started crying.

Back to the concert hall and its Rascal Flatts singing "My Wish" which is another touching song but my tears were soon dried whilst I watched the lead singers spiky hair change from normal, to blue, to purple and back again. It doesn't take much to fascinate me I guess.

Ford Commercial: The Idols are in Mustangs on their way to a drive-in. Is it just me, or do the commercials lack imagination as compared to past years?

Up next was a bunch of celebrities dancing and lipsynching to "Stayin' Alive". This was really very funny because some celebs CANNOT DANCE to save their lives.

Results: Phil is SAFE!

Josh Groban sings "You Raise Me Up" backed by an African Children's choir. This is really beautiful - children's singing voices always are to me. The next performance was Kelly Clarkson with Jeff Beck on guitar. I didn't catch the name of the song she sang and it was vaguely familiar (I think) but LOVED IT! I haven't seen Kelly perform in a long time and now I miss her.

More results....recap Blake, Phil and Melinda (missed that one) are SAFE. Chris, Jordin, LaKisha are in the bottom three, but Lakisha is SAFE. Ohhhhh this is kind of shocking.

Now the moment that I have been waiting for since hearing about it: The duet between Celine Dion and ELVIS! I won't lie, I had serious reservations about this and thought it was going to be so deliciously bad. I mean, Elvis is BACK FROM THE DEAD and singing with Celine Dion of all people.....sit with that thought for a minute. The idols were even singing backup and you know? It was actually very enjoyable for me, once I forgot for a few minutes that Elvis has been dead longer than I have been alive. Not really sure I want to watch this one again - was a bit creeped out at times - but at least it was well done.

The final performance of the night is Annie Lennox singing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" because you really can't have a night of inspirational songs without this one. It has more impact when song in a duet, so I wish they had a partner for her. George Michael kept coming to mind for some reason.

Back to the results....Chris and Jordin stand up and Chris is SAFE! There are some gasps of dismay, but then it was really quiet....too quiet....Total set up, everyone is safe, but TWO people will be voted off next week. Now we get to enjoy all six of these performers for a whole other week! *puts on tinfoil hat* OMG! Sanjaya's untimely departure last week makes total sense! *snerk*

Finally, the show ends with Bono giving the Idols an inspirational talk in a way that only Bono can and the show closes with the Idols singing "American Prayer". It was so good, I don't want any of them to leave next week, let alone TWO of them.

Romowood Squee continued.

We might as well continue it here. KISS! SQUEE!

American Idol Top 6 - Idol Gives Back

Tonight is the long awaited Idol Gives Back night and I already get some kleenex to prepare to cry. Poor and sick children do that to me every time. :(

Ryan starts the show looking all compassionate and with the stubble to match. Apparently Bono was the mentor for the Idols, but we never saw him. Strange. Footage is shown from their travels to poverty stricken areas and I am already teary.

Chris Richardson: Sang Eric Clapton's "Change The World" and this was a very good song choice for him. Nice dancing, low nasal, and a great ending.

Melinda Doolittle: Sang Faith Hill's "There Will Come A Day". I have never heard this song before and Melinda blew me away. Like Randy said, its perfect what else can you say?

Blake Lewis: Sang John Lennon's "Imagine" and I LOVE THIS SONG and oh Lord, am reaching for the kleenex again. Perfect song choice, the sweet vocals are back and reminded me of when I heard him sing "Somewhere Only We Know" and fell in lurve. The judges were underwhelmed, but I thought it was great. This isn't exactly the song you sing to get a party started.

LaKisha Jones: Sang Fantasia's "I Believe". The whole thing was pretty meh for me, no goosebumps like I remember getting when I first heard Fantasia sing this a few years ago. Simon thought it was shouty, I just thought it was boring.

Phil Stacy: Sang Garth Brooks' "The Change" and it was a really great vocal and there was even some emotion in his performance! Great job, Phil! This was his best performance I think.

Jordin Sparks: Sang "You'll Never Walk Alone" and this was the best performance! I thought it was going to be Melinda as usual, but Jordin's performance had a little something extra. Randy called it the best vocal EVER on American Idol and he might be right.

Everyone was really good tonight, but someone will still have to go home tomorrow.

Top 2: Jordin and Melinda
Bottom 2: Chris and LaKisha
In danger: It could be anyone....

54. Romowood birthday pictures are public! *UPDATE: Now, not so much....*

It happened weeks after I thought it would and since I first saw them, but the Romowood pictures are finally public. If you are one the few fans of Carrie Underwood and Tony Romo who has NOT seen these pictures yet LOL , knock yourself out.

I still say it only proves that he was at her birthday party, but they could be dating. Carrie will have to confirm or deny this eventually - its only a matter of time before it hits the bigger gossip blogs, then the tabloids.

EDIT: dun DUN DUNNNN.....!!!! It has been brought to my attention that the above blog is now private, invited readers only. I am sure most interested parties saw the pics a long time ago anyway.

And no, I will not be posting them here. Sorry.

Top 7 Results - Goodbya

The show starts and as I thought would happen, they explained the whole "Simon is a *&^%@!" controversy from last night. He explained himself and was even a little emotional towards the end, but that wasn't enough. They even had split-screen proof!

More man on the street stuff and ohhhh no love for Sanjaya this time. Is this a sign? Could be, could be....

Group sing was "I'm Alright" and it was a lot of fun. The harmonies, choreography and kitsch reminded me a bit of the Brady Bunch, but in a good way. "Gonna keep on keep on keep on dancin' all though the night....keep on keep on keep on doin' it riiiiiiiiiggghhhhtttt"

So, what are the kids listening too? Interesting, but the best part was Chris, Blake and Phil clowning on poor old Peter Noone. Show some respect! Hee!

Fergie performs and it was better than I expected. She is one of those I enjoy on the radio, but not so much on stage. Liked her tonight though.

Commercial. Some kind of spy thing to the 80's classic I Ran. This was my favorite of the commercials, but how they could refrain from giving Sanjaya the Flock of Seagulls hairdon't is beyond me.

Now Ryan splits them into two groups. Sanjaya, LaKisha (moans of dismay), and Blake?! (louder moans of dismay) are on the right; Phil, Jordin and Chris are on the left. Melinda is SAFE and refuses to choose between them, but the entire left side is SAFE along with her. Same script from AI4. Meh. Judges are surprised by Blake being up there, but Simon is full of glee. There is a reason for this.

Martina McBride sings and I can see why she is one of Carrie's heroes. Her daughter was too cute!

Back to the Bottom 3. Blake is SAFE! Sanjaya and LaKisha both look like they are about to cry while Ryan drones on before finally saying that Sanjaya is going home. The crowd cheered very enthusiastically to the news and I have mixed feelings about that if I am honest. During his montage, Sanjaya starts to cry for real and damn.....this is really sad to watch. He recovers and does his singout and gives us something to talk about "other than haiiiiirrrrr". Hee! I was almost a Fanjaya the first time he sang that, but I got over it.

Well, Sanjaya is finally gone. The hunger strike psychos can start eating again, some of the more overwrought Fanjayas can stop throwing themselves to the lions over him, and we don't have to worry about him taking out more talented contestants and making the backlash worse. Win-win for us all! Seriously though, I really wanted Sanjaya voted off since Top 24 due to his singing (and at times appallingly bad singing), but I never got a pretentious vibe, fake shtick or sense of entitlement from him that we have gotten from other contestants in past years - for that, he has my respect. He seems like a nice, genuine person - a sweet kid - and I wish him success in his life, whatever he eventually ends up doing.

Here's hoping he decides to go college instead of pursuing a singing career.

American Idol Top 7 - Country Night

I won't lie, Country Night is not my favorite theme. It always seems like a select few people are very good at singing Country, while others sing something that they think is country-ish, but really just sounds like a big mess with a slight twang (aka KUNTRY). We do have some talented people, so I am hoping for the best but am also hoping that Sanjaya is hilariously bad.

Ryan, on behalf of American Idol, send his thoughts and prayers to those at Virginia Tech. I do as well. Randy is looking preppy, Paula's stylist loves her as usual, Simon is wearing a different shade of grey.

Phil Stacey: Sang "Where the Blacktop Ends". His vocals were really nice and he was rather energetic for being Phil Stacey - I was a little bit bored. It seems like he could have done so much more with that song performance-wise. Do the judges think the same, since Simon was pinching Paula's nose during the performance (WTF?!) Nope, they all really liked it.

Jordin Sparks: Sang "Broken Wing" and really knocked it out! There was only one screechy note, but the rest was flawless - from interpretation, to the rest of the vocals. Simon crowned her the winner (sort of) and that would make me happy, although there are others that I favor more than Jordin at this point.

Sanjaya Malakar: As usual, I can't wait to see what happens. Will he be surprisingly decent (Tony Bennett night) or laughingly awful (Bathwater!). Well, he comes out wearing a red doo-rag, so I am giggling in anticipation for a Kuntry Bathwaterish performance of "Something to Talk About". He didn't disappoint. We are back to High School talent show levels, with off key singing, mumbling and some nasal thrown in to give it that special Kuntry Twang. Randy and Simon were brutally honest, but Ryan needs to shut up! He starting in with the whole "Simon, you have never liked pooooorrrr Sanjaya" business. Immediately I heard the Fanjayas gather their nails and prepare to climb some crosses, but not before voting about 548651875 times. Ugh.....

LaKisha Jones: Sang "Jesus Take The Wheel". She sang the first verse almost exactly like Carrie does, but fell a little short - which was disappointing. You could tell that the lyrics did mean a lot to her, so I give her credit for that but it was a pretty boring imitation actually. I agree with Randy, she should have made it her own and did sound shouty during the chorus.

Chris Richardson: Sang "Mayberry". Ohhhh, this is not good at all. His nasal was set to BLAST tonight and the charisma that he usually has was barely there. Chris seemed to think he did well because he was all smiles when finished, but the judges soon wiped that smile off his face. I totally agree with what Simon had to say, but Chris decided to be a McSmartass and mouthed off "Nasally is a form of singing, maybe you didn't know that." DUDE, that was just stupid! Then he gave his love to Virginia Tech and got misty, so I forgive him.

Melinda Doolittle: Sang "Trouble is a Woman" and the awesome Melinda that Wow'd me weeks ago was BACK! YES! The performance and vocals were flawless. The best part was that she was no longer dressed liked a 42 year old executive assistant, but like the young woman she is.

Blake Lewis: Sang "Where Do You Go" (I think - I didn't catch the title). His vocals were nice, but he seemed really nervous the entire time. Still very good, but this is probably my least favorite Blake performance so far. Simon didn't really care for it and apropos of what....he chose that moment to extend his sympathies to Virginia Tech. This was so weird and awkward, so maybe it would have been better to have kept the dismissive eyeroll you gave to Chris' VT sentiments to yourself instead? Just a thought.....

Martina McBride was a pretty good mentor, but this was my least favorite night so far.

Top 2: Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks
Bottom 2: Sanjaya Malakar and Chris Richardson
In danger: LaKisha Jones

Congratulations Carrie on your CMT Awards!!!!

We love you!

Top 8 Results - Bye Princess

It's been a long day and tonights show was a half an hour longer than it needed to be. Honestly, tonight I am like a tired, grouchy old man who missed his nap so keep that in mind as you read this.

Group song of "Bailamos". This was BY FAR the worst group sing and was even painful at times. The part where Haley and Sanjaya sang a duet.....were they even singing the same song?

Man on the street stuff - they all love Sanjaya.

Ford Commercial - morphing faces and cars. Low budget this week?

American Idol Gives Back - I was about to leave the room to start this blog rather than watch, then I would have missed priceless Caroline's drawing MOOBS on her picture of Simon! BWAHAHAHAHA I like Caroline better than pigtails girl.

FINALLY! We get to the part I stayed up to see. Melinda is a masochist who likes Simon's criticism; Haley thinks that Latin night is an excuse to dress like a hoochie (kidding!); Blake cheated by writing notes on his wrist - give him detention already, and Phil is blessed. No kidding.

Phil is sent to the Bottom 3 right away. Really, why don't they just start every results night with him on the Seal - its inevitable. LaKisha, in spite of our fears and preditions, is SAFE. Jordin is SAFE. Sanjaya is up and down. Melinda SAFE, Sanjaya up and down again OH FOR CRYING OUTLOUD, just tell him he's safe already. Haley is in the Bottom 3, shocker! Blake *EEEEE fangirly screaming* is SAFE. Chris R *even louder fangirly screams* is told to stand up and so is Sanjaya, but Chris R is in the Bottom 3. Riiiiight, this is such a producer's "lets create some dramatic tension" trick.

Ryan messes with the downtrodden 3 for a little and then sends Chris R back because he is SAFE. Told you.

JLO performs and she is better than I remember. To be honest, I haven't really followed her singing career since On The Six and when she was dating Diddy (Puff Daddy then) and there was some club shooting and fleeing the scene? Time flies when you work fulltime, take night classes and still manage to have a couple kids. I decide to put my High School spanish to good use to understand her lyrics, but only got "words", "my soul", and "love". So much for four years of Spanish.

Ohhhh dim the lights and get this over with! Phil is SAFE and tries not to smile again. Haley watches her journey and cries, but its appropriate this time. For a minute there, I thought they would let her talk instead of a singout a la Pickler last year, but that didn't happen. Haley got herself together and gave a decent singout and CAKE tried to dance with her. HEE!

And so Haley's finally gone. If you were very, very quiet you can hear the sound of the televisions belonging to the male 18-34 demographic clicking off, never to tune into American Idol again.

I hope next week is better. Goodnight.

American Idol Top 8 - Latin night

Going into this, I already feel sad for Anthony Fedorov. Spanish music is his love and this is his thing and I so wish American Idol had a Latin night a couple years ago. *wistful sigh*.

Back to the present....the judges are a vision in various shades of black and grey. Ryan is still his sparkly self and I LOVE him this Season. Then comes Jennifer Lopez. She has her detractors, but I actually like Jennifer Lopez; she is a beautiful woman, savvy businesswoman and I have enjoyed a couple of her earlier movies. She is a vocal mentor tonight and hmmmm....I need to sit with that thought for a little while.

Melinda Doolittle: Sang "Sway". Parts of it were really good and even sultry at times, but there were other times I was actually bored. Definitely not my favorite Melinda performance, but still all kinds of awesome anyway. Simon didn't like it and was way too harsh with his "cabaret" and "lounge singer" talk.

LaKisha Jones: Sang "Conga". God forgive me, but I don't care for Gloria Estefan AT ALL, though she seems like a nice person. LaKisha reminded me why I don't care for Gloria or Miami Sound Machine. The backup singers drowned her out at the beginning and this one was "cabaret" to me. Even Las Vegas hotel-ish.

Chris Richardson: Sang "Smooth". He sounded really flat at the beginning and then nasalled (sp?) his way though. With my eyes open, Chris is sexy as all hell and I was very entertained. When I closed my eyes, not so much. Randy seems to love everyone tonight and Chris got praise for being modern. Ok.

Haley Scarnato: Sang "Turn The Beat Around" and ugh....she tries so HARD, but is still so boring. "You had fun up there" is Paula's nice way of saying it sucked. Simon outright comes out and says she only has her body going for her. Ok, not constructive and a little offensive. I actually think that Haley has nice vocals and has really good recordings, she just isn't a performer.

Phil Stacy: Sang "Maria Maria" and this was his worst performance since Top 12. The scary expressions were back, he had new lurch moves I never noticed before, his voice sounded uncontrolled at times and even cracked. I'll say goodbye to Phil now, since Sanjaya isn't going anywhere.

Jordin Sparks: Sang "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" and while it was good, she didn't seem to be enjoying herself as she has with other performances. Nice vocals, but the whole thing was kind of meh - not anywhere near Haley levels of meh, but still....meh.

Blake Lewis: Sang "I Need To Know" and it was very entertaining and a good song choice, but it was almost too big for his voice. I know this is very fangirly of me, but Anthony Fedorov would have sang it better. Yes, he would have and I sigh wistfully again. I still love Blake and he was the best tonight, by far.

Sanjaya Malakar: Sang "Besame Mucho". On the good side, the vocals were nice and in tune, but the Spanish words were really some kind of mumbly Spanglish. He didn't even try with an accent. Now the disturbing. I don't care how much new stubble he has grown, he is too young and too odd to be channeling Constantine and doing that eye stuff. OMG! Make it STOP! *shudders*.

So after last week's greatness from the performers, tonight was a bit of a letdown.

Top 3 (in order): Blake Lewis, Melinda Doolittle, and ???? I can't come up with one.
Bottom 3 (no order): Haley Scarnato, Phil Stacy, Sanjaya Malakar

Top 9 Results - Smile, though your heart is breaking

The show starts and Ryan is looking more dapper than usual. Randy is back to his usual button down self, Paula looks perfect, Simon looks....what is going on with him, didn't he wear that shirt last night?

Commercial: Eco-carwash, meh...I do like Kermit the Frog though!

Results time and the kids are divided into three groups. First group is Blake, Chris and Sanjaya...ah hell, you know he isn't going anywhere but Ryan makes them wait. Second group, Haley, Gina and Phil - they also have to wait. Third group, Jordin, Melinda, and LaKisha are all SAFE! Then all three boys are SAFE! That leaves Haley, Gina, and Phil to be tortured. Haley looks like she is going to hurl, Gina looks very nervous, but Phil is all smiles. Honestly, I'm not anxious to see any of them go, but it had better be Haley.

Tony Bennett has the flu and cannot perform, so its Michael Buble instead. For some reason he keeps cracking up all through the song, but whyyyyyy?

Back to the Trinity of the Doomed, but Phil is safe! His smile fades and I am not sure if its because he feels bad for the girls or that he secretly wants to go home. The girls immediately dissolve into tears and I am thisclose to joining them. Then the judges say they aren't surprised by them being in the bottom two? 'Scuse me? Gina is standing there, but Sanjaya is SAFE....seems like a pretty big surprise to me!

Haley is SAFE and Gina is visibly devastated and sobbing now. Awwww damn, now I am getting teary-eyed over this TV show again. I am not surprised that it happened, but that it happened after such a good performance last night. She is like my Jessica Sierra this year - the underdog that didn't have a chance in hell of winning, but was voted off at least three weeks too soon.

Ryan is very sweet to her, rubbing her back as she watched her goodbye montage. Music cues up and Gina does her singout and this is really one of the saddest singouts ever. I am really going to miss her, not just for her singing and performing, but her personality as well.

*sniff*

American Idol Top 9 - Best night so far!

It's Tony Bennett night and already I have the funny/horrifying thought that Sanjaya will choose "Steppin Out" again to try and redeem himself, but disrespect Mr. Bennett instead. We will have to see if I am right.

Cameras pan to the judges - Randy was attacked by a Bedazzler apparently and Simon looks like he just rolled out of bed and showing too much chest hair. Paula looks polished as always and I am rooting for her continued lucidity week to week.

Blake Lewis: Sang "Mac The Knife" and even though he was dressed like a grandpa, I smiled through the whole performance. He is so enjoyable to watch and his voice just melts me. Ahhhhhh

Phil Stacey: Sang "Night and Day" and while it was a good vocal, it was pretty boring to me. The judges felt the same way, that the performance was lacking feeling. Phil responded that it was because he was concentrating on his wife. Dude! Actually, that was a pretty sweet thing to say and I am sure he has tons of feeeeeeelings for his wife, it just didn't come across.

Melinda Doolittle: Sang "I've Got Rhythm" which isn't one of my favorite songs, but it was a flawless performance. There is nothing else to say, but I hope people don't start taking her for granted because she is so good.

Chris Richardson: SQUEEE! Did you see that butt wiggle at the beginning?! Anyway, he sang "Mr Saturday Dance" and I loved this. His nasal setting must have been set to very low tonight because it was virtually undetectable and the vocals were really good. Agree with the judges, this was his best performance so far. I actually think his performance was better than Blake's, which is something I never thought I would say.

Jordin Sparks: Sang "On a Clear Day", a song I was unfamiliar with. I thought she was just as flawless as Melinda. I don't think people will take her for granted though, I suspect that she might win. She appeals more to the young than LaKisha and Melinda do and its the younger ones who powervote.

Gina Glocksen: Sang "Smile", which is a song I have always loved. I really like this girl and when she SINGS, its even better. She is supposed to be the rocker girl yadda yadda, but two weeks in a row of good singing will get you further than angsty screaming IMO. Simon noted that she was out sung by Melinda and Jordin which is true, but not in a jarring way - Gina holds her own.

Sanjaya Malakar: Sang "Cheek to Cheek" and it was actually decent! The vocals were nice, the hair was reasonable, he worked the crowd. Simon so wants him gone and tried to work the reverse psychology on the voting viewers, but its about a month too late for that. Sanjaya stays another week and I no longer give a damn (unless any of my Top 6 goes first, then its ON!)

Haley Scarnato: Sang "Ain't Misbehavin" which is a song that could have been sassy and fun. But no, we got another pageanted up and slightly dull version. Once again with this girl, sweet personality, nice vocals but meh - I wish she and Melinda would have switched songs.

LaKisha Jones: Sang "Stormy Weather" which was also very, very good. I can't explain why, but her performances all seems to run together for me where Melinda (her only real female competition) manages to bring something special to each performance. Although I want her to, I don't think LaKisha will make it to the Top 6.

Overall, everyone did really well. Even Sanjaya. Wow. I still have a Top and Bottom three and all are in order.

Top 3: Chris Richardson, Melinda Doolittle, Blake Lewis
Bottom 3: Sanjaya Malakar, Haley Scarnato, Phil Stacey
