The show starts and Ryan is looking more dapper than usual. Randy is back to his usual button down self, Paula looks perfect, Simon looks....what is going on with him, didn't he wear that shirt last night?
Commercial: Eco-carwash, meh...I do like Kermit the Frog though!
Results time and the kids are divided into three groups. First group is Blake, Chris and Sanjaya...ah hell, you know he isn't going anywhere but Ryan makes them wait. Second group, Haley, Gina and Phil - they also have to wait. Third group, Jordin, Melinda, and LaKisha are all SAFE! Then all three boys are SAFE! That leaves Haley, Gina, and Phil to be tortured. Haley looks like she is going to hurl, Gina looks very nervous, but Phil is all smiles. Honestly, I'm not anxious to see any of them go, but it had better be Haley.
Tony Bennett has the flu and cannot perform, so its Michael Buble instead. For some reason he keeps cracking up all through the song, but whyyyyyy?
Back to the Trinity of the Doomed, but Phil is safe! His smile fades and I am not sure if its because he feels bad for the girls or that he secretly wants to go home. The girls immediately dissolve into tears and I am thisclose to joining them. Then the judges say they aren't surprised by them being in the bottom two? 'Scuse me? Gina is standing there, but Sanjaya is SAFE....seems like a pretty big surprise to me!
Haley is SAFE and Gina is visibly devastated and sobbing now. Awwww damn, now I am getting teary-eyed over this TV show again. I am not surprised that it happened, but that it happened after such a good performance last night. She is like my Jessica Sierra this year - the underdog that didn't have a chance in hell of winning, but was voted off at least three weeks too soon.
Ryan is very sweet to her, rubbing her back as she watched her goodbye montage. Music cues up and Gina does her singout and this is really one of the saddest singouts ever. I am really going to miss her, not just for her singing and performing, but her personality as well.
*sniff*

So, this is, what, #3 in the row for Phil landing in the bottom ? They just keep tormenting him every week - poor guy. And Michael Buble sounded bad, bad, bad. This guy is a star ? No kidding ?

I honestly wondered if he was drunk.
America made my mother cry! Are you happy with yourselves America?! You also made me cry a little too and that's not cool either! Gina did not deserve to go home...and she looked so sad:-(. I agree Spork. That had to be one of the saddest singouts EVER.
On the good side? Hey there's Kermit!!

I was thinking the same thing, but he seems to be okay with it. All smiles.
How cute are Cake and their little "secret society" handshake? Makes a girl squeeeee
It's a complete farce that Gina was kicked off before Sanjaya! I don't think I can watch this show anymore....

I say that nearly every year, but yet I still watch - even last year, though it bored me at times.
Here was my Top 6 (no order) and Sanjaya just took the first one of my faves out. Maybe Miss K is right, he is like an EVIL! Deer.
1. Melinda
2. Blake
3. Jordin
4. Gina <3
5. Chris R
6. LaKisha
The iron has entered my soul! Sanjaya is no longer funny or fascinating in a trainwreck way, I just want him gone!!! [/drama]

I have heard of this Cake Shake, but have never actually noticed it.
And on a happier note after my other comment, here is some CAKE!

Your picture isn't showing up for me Spork

Hee! I feel the same way. I was prepared for him to take out Phil and Haley but I'm really going to miss Gina. And he made realityrulz's mom cry! Now it's on, Sanjaya. Oh yes, it is on.
Gina's singout was really, really classy. I admired how she seemed to appreciate the irony of singing out on "Smile" and her voice was lovely. *sniff*
PS. Next week is J. Lo Week! What kind of madness will Sanjaya pull now? Will he wear her famous green Grammy dress? Inquiring minds want to know.
Oh well, that's it. Goodbye Gina! Rock on with your inner rocker, belter chick! Wasn't it ironic that "Smile" is going to be her swan song? And she sang through it with a smile. Sigh. She wasn't the best the other night, but I could think of 3 other people who deserved to go home based only on Tuesday night.
So I guess there really exists the "Horny Guy Vote." I don't think Haley is all that bad as Sanjaya is, but she's vamping it up and staying. I don't really fault her though. Gotta do what will keep you alive. I mean, if others were allowed to have schticks or something, she's probably allowed one too. And now, I think there are now two "backlash" votes working against Idol - Haley and Sanjaya. If it's JLo week next week, I expect Haley to stay one more week.
But who's to blame, who's to blame? America, or the 3 Stooges? Maybe next season (if there is even one), they'd learn their lesson and only put the BEST in the top 24 and then leave it to voting for America. I'm sure the judges thought Sanjaya and Haley are just pure cannon fodder who'll ensure their favorites are going to sail right along, but after six seasons, America is now onto the game, and playing it better than TPTB. Serves the 3 stooges and Nigel right for putting the so-called "jokes" through.
See, now this is when contestants like Sanjayer start to really annoy me. At first it's kinda funny and we accept it but when people leave like Gina.. before him, it is just WRONG!
Poor Gina. :(
You could tell the rest of the idols and the audience were sad too. The song was full of irony too. *sigh*
