Fantastick Anthony

Another good thing for my fangirly and Anthony Fedorov loving and heart! Anthony was on GDNY this morning to talk about his upcoming appearance as "Matt" in The Fantasticks, starting May 1, 2007. He says he is playing his own romantic and goofy self, which is exactly why we love him, so I hope that never changes. And the throwing up of the hand signals/devil horns or whatever at the beginning? Yep, he's still adorkable. It was also a real treat to hear him sing a medley of songs he will be perfoming in The Fantasticks.

I can see why he is nervous and excited, I think we fans might be feeling the same way. I had no idea he could act or was even interested in acting until I heard about him getting this role, but I have high hopes for him. When the reviews come in, I plan on obsessively hunting them down and reading them all - good, bad or indifferent. I will go out on a limb though and predict that most of the reviews will be good, non-fans will be pleasantly surprised and Anthony will win many more new fans during his run.

Now the usual hair and wardrobe report. Hair was awesome, very very nice and the perfect amount of spikiness. Wardrobe? Didn't he wear that same outfit the last time he was on GDNY? *exasperated sigh* Not that I am one to talk, being quite a fashion and hair disaster myself, but he needs either a girlfriend to dress him or a stylist. A girlfriend would be my preference because I am a sucker for loooooooove and the shopping time and fashion advice usually comes free with the girl. ;)

Edit 3-25-07: Downloads of Anthony's appearance on WWOR, where he discusses his work with the Sarcoma Foundation - among other topics, is now available on his fansite and on youtube.

In addition to one of the best Anthony interviews ever, he sings an acoustic version of "Never Over", which is very powerful and moving. Once again, his maturity and eloquence at the age of 21 amazes me.

Judging by that clip of that medley, I really don't think we have a lot to worry about for the actual show itself. I think he's going to do great. I'm still very jealous that I won't be able to get to New York to see him in this but I hope we get some video somehow.

On to the completely shallow, I think he looked great. All happy and glowing. Although I'm all about him getting a new wardrobe whether through girlfriend or stylist. Whatever works for the goofy little romantic ;-).

Anthony is truly FANTASTICK! (I know, it's really bad). I have no worries he'll do great, and he'll win fans over his Broadway show! I hope he gets more offers after this.

I agree with all of you about the wardrobe. Boy needs some changes STAT! And I agree with Spork that a girlfriend would probably be better than a stylist, since the services are free, and there's more to a girlfriend than just styling Anthony. ;)

I'm surprised no one has made the connection yet, but aren't Carrie and Anthony both at NY at the same time?! Is this one of those super secret meetings that they arranged?! And is there gonna be a rekindling of loooooooovveeeee??????

Heh. Like what? ;P

Ah yes, A CANTHONY REUNION in NYC! Could be, could be unless that darn Tony Romo travelled with her.

On to the completely shallow, I think he looked great. All happy and glowing.

Yes he did! Whatever or whomever is responsible, thank you!
Happy Anthony = Happy Spork

Yes, he wore the same outfit for his January appearance on GDNY, except that the shirt was blue. He has exactly 3 shirts to go with those jeans and jacket - pink, blue and black.

I am beyond exasperated with his wardrobe. But otherwise he looked great - even the hair. So, whatever it is that is making him happy, just keep doing it, dude.

I don't think there will be a Canthony reunion in NY. They are friends and that is all..
As for Anthony's performance..He is and always will be Fantastick to me..I just love him.
I have no doubts about his ability to play the part of Matt and he will do it magnificently.
He will also wow the troops in Europe as he travels from AF Base to AF Base as the Celebrity Role Model for the Air Force. He will be playing a dual role as a celebrity judge for their local Idol shows as well as performing for military personnel from all over the world and the many civilian employees and their families on base.
This is a wonderful opportunity for him to get exposure in Europe..
His wardrobe..not important..he looks georgeous in anything..
Anthony will be performing at the Sarcoma Foundation of America Gala in NY in May to launch his role as spokesperson. This is something very close to his heart.
I am happy that we have the opportunity to see Anthony fedorov on television and on stage. He is going to be one very busy young man in the future..

I am so looking forward to seeing Anthony in the play twice in May....thanks for the info about Anthony....love him as much as you do!!I did'nt notice about the same clothes thing....too busy lookin at that sweet face!!

I notice the clothes thing because I obsessively notice EVERYTHING. However, Anthony's sexiness does make up for a multitude of clothing rerun sins.

'twas a little joke on the whole Canthony phenomenon. Anthony and Carrie prob each have their own fish to fry ;)

and each week he becomes more honest in his critiques. This week I noticed he was very honest about Sanjaya especially. That was not a very Paula response at all and I like that. I think as he improves and gains confidence in his own performance ability, he's less afraid to be honest about others.

Ooh Anthony you are gorgeous.

Okay so onto the interview/performance in question...
He sang so beautifully and I like the interview too, he's so adorkable, hee.

I am REALLY looking forward to reading the first reviews of the show because they're gonna be excellent.

Indeed.

:D

Thank you Spork for adding the latest media of todays performance of Never Alone and that very touching interview.

First the song. I love that it was a simple acoustic arrangement but that he added a back-up singer. I thought the song actually had a lovely latin flavor to it and sounded just beautiful.

The interview was incredibly touching. You can tell that the emotions surrounding Denis' illness and death are still very much on the surface for Anthony and that had to be incredibly difficult for him to talk about it. But I am very proud of him for all his work with the Sarcoma Foundation so that other families hopefully won't have to go through what his family went through.

I also found a video clip of Anthony performing Culpa Me on Debra Byrd's DVD "Vocal Help Now". In addition to singing this song FLAWLESSLY he also speaks with Debra Byrd about getting started in the business and how you need to surround you with the right people. People who will treat you like their own.

And on a shallow note...there always is one...Anthony looked incredible in this video. LOVED the hair!!

I usually like his hair, but not in the occasional Chicken Little style.

He's had pretty bangin' hair lately.

And on a shallow note...there always is one...

There is always one! I swear, I had tears in my eyes during parts of his interview, but still managed to be shallow enough to want him to TAKE OFF his interview jacket so I could see his arms and t-shirt better.

That was a fantastic interview; a nice bit of background on his family, his singing, what he is doing now and of course Denis and the cause he is now supporting.

The interview was very moving and informative. I'm amazed that he is so strong enough to talk about it on TV just to make people aware of the cancer. You can tell it means so much to him.

The performace was ohh so good. I adore that song, he sings it beautifully and the guitars and back up singer were a nice touch.

After see that AI clip I have realised that I miss the days when he wore light colored clothing and not a black jacket with jeans....
But he is still GORGEOUS.

The interviews and the performance were the best he's ever done.

And now for the obligatory clothing comments:

So, the jacket and the jeans were the same ones that he wore on GDNY. But I give thumbs-up to the t-shirt. That's what he should wear instead of those blue/pink buttondowns that make him look like my grandpa. I'll give him a pass on the black shirt. Anything black looks amazing on him.

sporkenyall said...

Oh yeah Anonymous, he does look very sexy in black. I would dress him in all rich, dark colors except for the occasional baby blue.

I think one of the many shallow reasons I love him is that he dresses like my man.

Few pairs of jeans, check.

Several T-shirts to match with said jeans, check.

Wearing said T-shirts to death, check.

Glasses other times, but contacts when he wants to look goooood, check.

One or two suits for those occasions when he has to look somewhat presentable, check.

And yes, I have thought about this a lot.

I loved his comments this week. He has a way of being very honest without being too mean. Its better to leave the real snark to the girls, we are better at it. ;P

He is really getting to be very good with the critiques. He's not mean at all but he isn't mincing words any more. I like that! Although my favorite comment actually came from Amy Adams who said regarding Sanjaya: I wish that [hair] never happened in my life. It was just troubling.

I hear ya Amy :-D

And usocrazy will appreciate this comment by Anthony: Chris Daughtry, as far as I’m concerned, was the winner of [his] season. I don’t know how he didn’t win. ;-)

I loved this part of what Anthony said.

People are voting for him. [Pause] I don’t know — I’m kind of speechless when it comes to that kid.

Yep, speechless is about right.

See...even Anthony was perplexed by being Daughtry'd.
